Trans-humanist obfuscating tech-talk

Trans-humanists go off into the clouds of non-material spiritualism when they talk of how information and software aren't really matter but are only "information." They think of "life" as "a self-replicating information-processing system whose information (software) determines both its behavior and the blueprints for its hardware. They say such things as, "what’s replicated isn’t matter (made of atoms) but information (made of bits)." (review in kurzweil, page not found)

This is obfuscating tech-talk, and it is dangerous because it usually goes on to propose that computers should control the world---aren't we all computers anyway?. But it will be the tech-nerds who gain the power by controlling the computers---assuming they don't create uncontrollable monsters. Talk about the revenge of the nerds.

It is politically incorrect to say that it is people who need to evolve---computers can be important aids in that evolution. Information, software, and bits are grounded in matter and not in non-material spiritualism. Even real Godhood is based on the replicating material world evolving to the supermaterial world.

We better soon get on with our sacred material evolution toward supermaterial Godhood whether the tech-nerds are too weak or too cunning to say it or not.
