Countering the Spenglerian pessimism of many conservatives

Rod Dreher points out in “The American Conservative” how the West is now dominated by left-liberals in the news, the entertainment media, the universities, the professions, law, and medicine, education, sports, and the military, and woke (cultural Marxist) businesses. If you want to be part of these institutions, you must conform.

Dreher says at the root of all these problems is the collapse of Christianity as a binding source of values for the West and that without a religious rebirth, we are not going to make it. He suggests that American conservatives of the near future may face “a battle to conserve truth, faith, and moral sanity while the ignorant armies of the radical left and post-Christian right clash in the long night ahead.” 

Dreher likes the idea of applying the “Benedict Option,” his general term to describe the movement of Christians towards forming small communities within which faith and virtue can thrive and be passed on to the young, based on St. Benedict of Nursia, the founder of Western monasticism, who left the chaos of Rome to found monastic communities in the countryside.

The philosopher Oswald Spengler thought real unity is more cultural than biological, when the reality is the other way around, there is a biological origin behind cultural creations which basically enhances survival and reproduction, and ultimately enhances success in the sacred drive to evolve toward Godhood. Spengler speaks of a “mysterious cosmic force” that influences man, but he does not at all tie it to biology.

I believe that we have to decentralize the world to save the world. I define the activation within life of material Tirips or the Will, which is tied to biology, and is later shaped by evolution. This is the force that is universal within life and is therefore within distinct civilizations and cultures.

Universal evolution does not suggest only one people or one civilization, which could be destroyed by one disease or one disaster. Human evolution has always worked within a variety of people and cultures, each evolving in there own fashion---we would hope that their independence could be protected by a defensive federalism, while cooperating with one another in the overall evolution of human beings, even evolving into new species out into the cosmos, as Raymond Cattell suggested. 

The age old problem of union in America could be helped by forming an ethnopluralism of ethnostates perhaps adapted from our Constitutional separation of powers and states, for all groups, black, white, brown, yellow, or red, and then protect the ethnostates from marauding imperialists, supremacists, global money grubbers, and social justice warriors, with a defensive federalism.

We can pay attention to the signs and cycles of the rise and decline of civilizations, which Spengler was brilliant in finding, such as the deterioration of the roots and traditions of the founders, the fall in birthrates, the rise of dictatorships, etc. but it is the ongoing evolution of  life and in various group selections on the sacred path to Godhood which best counters ominous Spenglerian pessimism.

Will Fourth Generation War Eventually Lead to Ethnostates?

I think William Lind is right in his assessment of our having a crisis of the legitimacy of the state. “Fourth Generation War Comes to a Theater Near You.

The consequence is that the state loses the monopoly on war it claimed at Westphalia. As van Creveld says, the key change in the Fourth Generation is not how war is fought (although that does change), but who fights and what they fight for.”

Lind goes on to say: “We threw away our domination in three great Western civil wars: World War I, World War II, and the Cold War. Now, the West is just one contending culture among many, the state to which the West gave birth is failing everywhere, and the questions of ultimate meaning that modernity discarded are returning to haunt its senescence.”

Lind asks: “So, is the future of the American state hopeless? Probably. I can see three possible outcomes to the crisis of legitimacy of the American state.

The first is that the dynasty falls and a competent new establishment class replaces it, one that can make the federal government work for everyone and that ceases to wage ideological war on its own people. In theory, this is possible, but I see no signs of it happening, nor any forces on the horizon that are capable of doing it. The system is so loaded against third parties that this route is effectively blocked. The Democrats are hopelessly in thrall to cultural Marxism because their base either believes in it, profits from it, or both. President Trump has shown himself incapable of remaking the Republican Party in his anti-Establishment, politically incorrect image. Could his successor do it, perhaps someone such as Tucker Carlson? Hope springs eternal, but hope is also a fool.

A second possibility is that both left and right could see the horrors that widespread Fourth Generation War on American soil would bring, step back, and work together to avoid it. There is a way to do that, by returning to American federalism as it was practiced before 1860.

If you found yourself being governed by people you despised, you would not need to fight. You could simply move. We would still be one country for foreign policy, defense, macroeconomics, and infrastructure. But leftists would be free to misrule the West Coast to their hearts’ content, while conservatives enjoyed the neighborliness and good food of the Old South.

The third and most likely possibility is that the country breaks apart in widespread Fourth Generation War. Welcome to Libya, Syria, and a growing portion of the world.

If the third possibility becomes reality and America as we know it disappears from the world’s landscape, its vanishing will be part of something larger: the end of the modern age that gave birth to the state.

The biological origin of social behavior which came with Darwin and later sociobiology shows that real human nature is and has been genetically kin and ethnic centered (ie. racist and ethnocentric) with group selection as the main unit of successful survival and reproduction, followed by individual selection. America has not successfully united different races and ethnic groups, we are naturally fragmenting into a nation of competing races in a zero game where the gains of one ethnic group is offset by the losses of another ethnic group, with much cruel social discord in the process. But all is not lost.

We need to gradually realize the reality that multicultural multi-ethnic societies just don't work. The twenty first century could be the century of the rise of ethnostatism. As one historian put it, what formerly divided us can put us back together again. It would be far more realistic to talk of un-assimilating differences rather than about superiority/inferiority. A true natural rights or civil rights movement would promote ethnostates and an ethnopluralism of ethnostates for all groups, black, white, brown, yellow, or red, with each ethnostate protected from marauding imperialists, global businesses, supremacists, Marxists, etc.

Economic reform needs to synchronize with or even follow real human nature. And real human nature is best defined by the science of sociobiology which affirms the biological origin of social behavior.

Edward O. Wilson wrote “The genes hold culture on a leash. The leash is very long, but inevitably values will be constrained in accordance with their effects on the human gene pool. The brain is a product of evolution. Human behavior . .is the circuitous technique by which human genetic material has been and will be kept intact...”

Human nature has been and remains genetically ethnocentric, even xenophobic, as well as being kin-centered, gender defined, age-graded, heterosexual marriage-making, hierarchical, with group-selection as the primary unit of selection, followed by individual-selection.

Which economic philosophy best synchronizes with or even follows real human nature? It would center on an ethnopluralism of ethnostates which could be conservatively and legally established in America largely within the traditional American framework of our separation of powers and states. We would conservatively take something from economic nationalism especially, but also from laissez-faire capitalism and perhaps distributism. We need to honor real human nature and the biological origin of social behavior and advocate the creation of an ethnopluralism of ethnostates for all groups, black, white, brown, yellow, or red, with their independence protected by economic nationalism and a defensive federalism.

Blacks are about 13% of the U.S. population and the silent white majority is beginning to wake up to the fact that the Black Lives Matter Movement is really a racist black power movement. At the same time the pandemic is beginning to wake up white parents to the fact that the Critical Race Theory being taught to our children in all our schools is designed to destroy traditional white society and Western culture.

But Americans are not awake enough yet to affirm the biological origin of social behavior. The problem largely stems from a tragic misreading of real human nature which has been and remains genetically ethnocentric, even xenophobic, as well as being kin-centered, gender defined, age-graded, heterosexual marriage-making, hierarchical, with group-selection as the primary unit of selection, followed by individual-selection. You can't build a lasting multicultural and multiracial nation with real human nature.

If whites in the future want to avoid sedition, discord, and racial civil war they will honor the biological origin of social behavior and advocate the creation of an ethnopluralism of ethnostates for all groups, black, white, brown, yellow, or red, in harmony with real human nature. Then protect each ethnostate from marauding imperialists, global businesses, supremacists, chosenists, Marxists, etc. An ethnopluralism of ethnostates could be established, legally, in the United States with our constitutional separation of powers and states...Then we will be fully politically awake and ready to continue evolving.
