Justice and Ordered Evolution

In reality, humanity can claim no rights against nature. In the end nature is superior to the state and therefore state laws should be grounded in natural law.

Natural law is justice defined as the highest law. Problems come in defining natural law where prudence is not always followed. Politics is the art of the possible. The conservative legal proposition, borrowed from the Federalists, says there can be no order without law, no law without morality, and no morality without religion. Natural law can be taught by the Church but secured through the order of the states. Anarchy allows chaos. But what is to keep the state from becoming oppressive?

A just society has the balance of Ordered Evolution, where the advance of evolution does not suppress the unadvancing. Ordered Evolution can be defined as "just" when evolutionary advancement is free to advance, but where most people with regular unadvanced lives are protected against oppression from evolutionary advancement.

Eric Voegelin defined justice something like Ordered Evolution. But he compared “aspiring natures” with those who desire a “merely quiet life.” Voegelin, Kirk and other classical conservatives understood that inequality is the natural condition of human beings and that such virtues as charity must assist those not favored by nature. It is profoundly unjust to try to transform society into a mass of equality.

In the Theoevolutionary Church the Involutionary Inward Path is the ground of the majority of people, the Evolutionary Outward Path is the ground of evolutionary advancement. The virtues of the Involutionary Inward Path (Faith, Hope, Charity and Courage, Justice, Prudence, Temperance) are balanced with the virtues of evolution in the Evolutionary Outward Path. Evolution is grounded in the sacred and religious advance to Godhood.

Ought And Is

An “ought” can be drawn from an “is,” nature is evolving to Godhood and we ought to evolve with it. This is the real consciousness of the Spirit Within.

The immanent and transcendent teleology of human natural desires

In his blog “Darwinian Conservatism” Larry Arnhart says ...“If human beings are by their natural desires directed to certain ends or purposes, then we can see those ends or purposes as intrinsic to their nature, regardless of whether these ends have any cosmic reference. Darwinian biology supports such an immanent teleology because it recognizes the goal-directed behavior characteristic of various animal species, including the human species.”

But we say that human morality depends on an immanent teleology of human natural desires, leading to a “transcendent” teleology, in the sense that nature evolves to Godhood, that is, human beings will evolve to the next and the next and next species, all the way to Godhood. We are directed to this end as the Kosmos is directed to this end.

This is the goal of the Evolutionary Outward Path first glimpsed in the Traditional Involutionary Inward Path, which sees (at least mystics see) the Soul or Spirit Within yet needs to further see the teleological direction of the Spirit Within evolving materially-spiritually to Godhood in the Kosmos.

Balancing Past and Future

Religion and Tradition have been increasingly decaying, and science has not filled the great gap. People feel that a time of big change is approaching. Even the bread and circuses of the consumer world have not filled the gap. People are anxious and worried about the future, how will the future go?

Two responses to times of great change and trouble were suggested by Arnold Toynbee (EnlightenNext June/Aug 2009): we become either “archaists” or “futurists.” Today I would point to Evolian Traditionalists on the archaist side, and people like Ray Kurzweil on the futurist “Singularity” side, as examples of one-sided responses to great change, with both virtually rejecting the other side.

The Evolutionary Christian Church (ECC) applies both sides, with the return to Traditions of the Involutionary Inward Path, and the Beyondism of the Evolutionary Outward Path. ECC affirms Revitalized Conservatism and Ordered Evolution, which balances the past and future in a masterplan of evolution and tradition. The future need not be feared if we can balance the past and future this way.

Equality, Inequality and Ordered Evolution

All men are judged “equal” only in the sense that no matter what one's position or status is, we will be judged by our compliance with the Spirit Within or the Will to Godhood.

Envy is still a vice in the Evolutionary Christian Church (ECC) and demanding equality of condition is not only an envious vice, it is a fall from grace, a devolutionary and profane direction of behavior.

But socially, “equal justice under law” applies to the high and the low, which helps keep the peace, and this is an old Western position we can affirm.

Envious egalitarianism is dangerous and often used by political leaders to pull down the successful and get votes from the unsuccessful.

The central virtue of the Evolutionary Outward Path, which is evolution, should strengthen the cause for defining justice not as equality of all, but defining inequality as Aristotle did when he said that it is unjust to treat unequal things equally.

The Christian virtues of the Involutionary Inward Path still apply, that is, faith, hope and charity (plus the classical virtues of courage, justice, prudence and temperance) which give much grace to the evolutionary virtues of the Outward Path.

What we want is the balance of Ordered Evolution, where the Inward Virtues mainly deal with Order and the Outward Virtues mainly deal with Evolution.

Individual and Group Selection

Western individualism increased during the Enlightenment in the 1600's and from here the modern world seems to have progressed away from the traditional world, and then democracy and technology were affirmed over Tradition. But this individualism in the West became unbalanced with super-individualism leading to the present decay of Western Capitalism.

We agree with the branch of Sociobiology which says that the most vital selection takes place at the group level. What is best seems to be the balance between individual and group selection leaning toward the group, defined in Revitalized Conservatism, and reflected in Cattell's Beyondism.

Instincts to Survive and Evolve

The instinct to survive and the instinct to evolve are related. We survive so that we may evolve. There is a false separation set up between evolution and survival in the mystical traditions because the mystical traditions tend to limit evolution to the evolution of consciousness.

Survival is not on a lower level of the ladder of development, it is the prime ground of evolution. Only when we are virtually drunk in the consciousness of the Soul Within could we see survival as a lower level of development.

This is why both the Inward and Outward Paths of Evolution are included in the evolution to Godhood. The Traditional Inward Path alone is human all too human, the Outward Path leads beyond the human to Godhood.

Thoughts On Natural Law and the Outward Path

The Theoeolutionary Church (TC) affirms “natural law” but we will add evolution to the dynamic of natural law. And we have affirmed such sciences as sociobiology as a source for understanding natural law. We think to ban the growing scientific laws of nature from definitions of natural law is biased.

We are only human and we cannot read the eternal laws of nature perfectly, however, evolution moves on and our knowledge of the laws of nature have increased with the advent of the science of evolution. The largely unwritten rules of natural law can be considered to be included in the laws of the land.

According to Classical and Catholic Church interpretations, natural law is rooted in the wisdom of the species, however, we have learned much more of the natural law and the species since the days of St. Thomas Aquinas. To deny this is to put one's head in the sand.

We continue to conceive of a natural law that sees justice as ultimately proceeding from the nature of the Kosmos, and originally proceeding from the activation of Godhood and the Holy Spirit within nature. We agree that man can more or less understand these laws through reason, intuition and revelation. But science, apparently with or without revelation, has taught us much, and TC will include knowledge from science in defining the natural laws.

In the Evolutionary Outward Path, natural law would be related to the apprehension of justice rooted in the wisdom of evolution. The origin of natural law and morals seems to arise at the point where values and evolution coincide, but again, understanding these laws and applying them require that old virtue of prudence because we are still limited to human consciousness.

Natural law can be perceived now by more than poetry and imagination, although traditionalists would probably not agree. Science has moved far beyond the standard views of science held by the traditionalists. To change a phrase of Raymond English, natural law is the poetry of evolution, but science can also interpret evolution. Natural law or evolutionary law remains a higher law than the laws of men. Natural law, or the will to Godhood, or the law of the Spirit, is the law of evolution.

Did mystics understand the real nature of men and nature? What they seem to have understood is the nature of the Involutionary Inward Path leading to the Soul and Spirit within man.

Could evolution as natural law be written, at least to some extent, into the laws and definitions of justice in the state? At this time the Church will continue to define natural law, and the state will continue to define constitutional law, in a separation of church and state. One day the natural laws of evolution may be written more in the laws of the state, but meanwhile, the Theoeolutionary Church and the Order of the Outward Path, will affirm the natural laws of evolution while working with either a separation or non separation of church and state. As we pursue the natural laws of evolution to God, we obey the laws of the land.

Differences From New Age Involution

The New Age and the Wilberian perspective calls for change in the “memetic” and “psychic” aspects of the human population, which places the New Age in the Involutionary Inward Path of Traditional Religion. The new human species they call for, e.g. “Homo noeticus” (EnlightenNext—2008) physically resembles Homo Sapiens, but has a “marked increase in consciousness.” This is defined as “evolution” when it is really involution to the Soul or Spirit Within.

The Evolutionary Christian Church calls for more than the “conscious” evolution (for the New Age really involution) which defines the ancient Inward Path. We seek to combine the Inward Path of involution with the Outward Path of Evolution. The coming species will evolve far beyond the human species and far beyond even the highest human consciousness.

God-consciousness is not human consciousness. Reaching the Spirit Within through religious disciplines should not be mistaken for Godhood, especially since this error has created a Great Spiritual Blockade against the evolution to Godhood.

Rehabilitation Not Revolution

Russell Kirk said “restoration and rehabilitation almost always are preferable to grand reconstitution—even when expensive, which repair rarely is.” (The Architecture of Servitude and Boredom)

Kirk was speaking of urban architecture here yet this concept describes another reason why the Revitalized Conservatism of the Evolutionary Christian Church, that is, the synthesis of Traditional Involutionary Religion with Evolutionary Biospirituality and the Evolutionary Outward Path, is wiser and more practical than a revolutionary new worldview or religion.

Cultural And Genetic Conservatism—Toward Revitalized Conservatism

Conservatives worry about how the culture so painfully cultivated over centuries is neglected or treated with contempt. But what of our genetic heritage which was also even more painfully acquired over many more centuries? This, too, is neglected, or only referred to indirectly by conservatives.

In the Revitalized-Conservatism of the Evolutionary Christian Church (ECC) the Evolutionary Outward Path and the Involutionary Inward Path pay attention to both the cultural and genetic heritage, and not for one people but for all people, all races, cultures, and religions. Imperialism in any of these categories damages the very cultural and genetic heritage and variety we wish to conserve.

Since we evolve materially and spiritually to Godhood, it is not enough to preserve the cultural heritage, it is necessary to preserve the genetic heritage. The Inward Path preserves the cultural and religious heritage, the Outward Path preserves the genetic heritage, although these Two Paths overlap and interrelate in ECC.

Reason In Soul and In Spirit

"The metaphysicians reason by analogy, symbolism, not by a system or as a systematist. (A. Coomaraswamy)."

Here perhaps we can define the difference between the “reason” of the Soul and the so-called “reason” of the Spirit. The Soul reasons systematically being the Zenith of the Mind, the Spirit “reasons” by analogy and symbols, being the Zenith of the Soul.

The Involutionary Inward Path, while using high reason and metaphysics only, runs the danger of blocking ourselves in the world of high reason only, creating a Great Spiritual Blockade which can kill the biospiritual Evolutionary Outward Path of material evolution to Godhood. The Inward and Outward Path must be balanced.

Realistic Future Systems

All the old systems were based on competition, yet most Futurists today see a future world which is not based on competition but love based, altruistically interdependent, and so on.

This social perspective overlooks the ground of evolution, human nature, and human behavior. The realistic system would try to direct competition, not to rid ourselves of it.

Politically pursuing only love and interdependence can inadvertently damage variety and competition (remember communism?) and this would have to be more or less imposed, since it largely goes against human nature which always protects and prefers family, ethnic group and location.

We need to think in terms of small, federated ethnostates across the globe which allow natural human competition, variety and evolution, organized and managed with light federal controls.

In the long term we must evolve to Godhood which is the central motivation of the Kosmos, and evolution requires that we hold on to positive mutations through conservative values even as we advance, change and evolve. Small states not only best allow evolution but adhere to human nature and to nature in general, making this system more realistic in the long term.

Seeking and Evolving to the Good, True and Beautiful

It is said that religion and art were born at the same time, seeking the good, the true and the beautiful (Elizabeth Debold). The Spirit Within, or the Will to Godhood, was the beginning of all of these things with the same goal of seeking the good, the true and the beautiful, but also activating biology to evolve to Absolute Good, Absolute Truth and Absolute Beauty, which is Godhood.

On The Contempt Of The Flesh

It is really not much better to adapt the gnostic contempt for the flesh and contempt for marriage and then suggest that marriage is merely a symbol of the great union between finite beings and God, as many Traditions affirm. This creates the Great Spiritual Blockade against evolving to Godhood. In the Evolutionary Christian Church this ascetic blocking of the flesh defines only the Involutionary Inward Path to the God or Soul Within. Reaching True Godhood requires the Evolutionary Outward Path of evolution.

The Evolutionary Outward Path Is Not of the Prince of Darkness

Kabbalists and Gnostic oriented religions (Traditionalists) may want to denigrate the Evolutionary Outward Path of the Theoevolutionary Church (TC), the path of the evolution of material life to spiritual life and Godhood, as the path of the “Prince of Darkness,” since they tend to find “matter” and the “body” as part of the gradual “weakening” of Divine Light. But this denigration must be understood as part of the Great Spiritual Blockade against attaining Godhood through evolution.

The name of our blog “Civilizing The Beast” more or less indicates our mission to raise the real world through evolution to Godhood. We do not affirm this mission as satanic, on the contrary, it is a most Godly mission. The mission of an angel like Gabriel (or, if you will, Odin, Hermond, Prometheus, Thoth, or Hermes) in TC seems to have another prophetic mission, not to raise the Soul alone to the God Within, which is the task of our Involutionary Inward Path, but to raise humanity up through the activation of the Spirit, up from the “True Fall” of material evolution, all the way to the Real Godhood through the Evolutionary Outward Path.

Harmonizing With the State

Ideally, perhaps, there would be one doctrine of “One Sword” including both faith and justice, not the traditional “Two Swords.” But divisions of duties naturally evolve and historically, at least in Indo-European history and prehistory, three classes usually developed, e.g. priests, warriors, and providers under the leadership of either priests or warriors.

Traditionally in the West the Church is concerned with inner order and the state with outer order. In the Theoevolutionary Church (TC) these positions define the Involutionary Inward Path and Evolutionary Outward Path. But does this necessitate no separation between church and state? In TC it may or may not indicate separation.

TC can work with virtually any state system. For example, in the U.S., the Constitution, understood Traditionally, sets up a very workable system which can harmonize well with evolutionary development. States can become virtual ethnostates with great independence and variety within a light Federal system. But TC can work with monarchies, theocracies and so on. We follow the laws of the land.

Combining Divine and Humanitarian Goals

Can mankind become “perfect” without Divine aid? The Church says “no” but secular Humanitarianism usually says “yes.” The Spirit Within provides the Divine aid activating life to evolve to Godhood, but mankind works within the structures of natural evolution, and here humanitarianism can be applied more readily than the traditionalists have believed. Evolutionary science (e.g. Beyondism) can provide great aid in attaining the divine goal of evolution in the Evolutionary Christian Church (ECC).

Definitions of the “natural law” must finally admit knowledge from evolution, sociobiology, and science, and thereby deepen its definitions. We have in fact learned more of natural law since classical times and the days of St. Thomas Aquinas. But, of course, we know that, as humans, we cannot fully read the eternal laws of nature and we therefore need to be prudent in doing so.

This is the way ECC can affirm and combine Divine and Humanitarian goals.

Toward Understanding And Coordinating The Brain With Religious Transcendence

Physiologically Defining The Soul or Transcendent Function

In the 1980's, Virginia Ross brilliantly defined the “transcendent function” (Zygon, June 1986), which we define as the goal of the Involutionary Inward Path, that is, contacting the Soul. Ms Ross called this process “a function that integrates not only the cerebral hemispheres, but also involves pathways of the limbic system and brain stem...” A sense of union with the Divine (Nirvana) when simultaneously space and time are transcended. “...When both conscious and unconscious brains are in harmony and one glimpses and comprehends the universe. When all the polarities are conjuncted, the left and right brains are in perfect phase. The equilibration of the brain's hemispheres produces an aura of timelessness in relationship to the whole, the all, the absolute, and the eternal mind...” Ms Ross thought it highly probable that this transcendent function resides close to the junction of the supratemporal-limbic areas of the right brain, with the transcendent function ultimately controlled by the “centrencephalic-integrative” action of the upper brain stem.

This nicely defines the goal of the Involutionary Inward Path physiologically, which we describe as the closest possible contact with the Soul, which is the Zenith of the Conscious Mind.

Defining The Spirit Function

The Spirit is the Zenith of the Instincts and it seeks the Ideal of the Instincts, which is evolving to Godhood. Contacting, coordinating, and defining the Spirit Function is the task of the Evolutionary Outward Path. This physiologically involves among other things the instincts of the most ancient neural chassis of the brain that contains the neural machinery for reproduction and self preservation, which must be coordinated with the cortex and limbic systems of the brain.

Human Nature in this way is dominated by the activation of the ancient sacred Spirit, and we describe the Spirit as the Zenith of the Soul that must be coordinated with biospiritual and environmental drives, and coordinated with the insights of the Soul. Without this coordination our bodies will have hypothalamic regulation problems, since the hypothalamus seems to control or regulate the bodies activities, which can effect all social actions as well. In psychological terms, the conscious mind---which the Soul is the Zenith of---must learn to integrate the unconscious mind or Spirit, that is, the Involutionary Inward Path must be coordinated with the Evolutionary Outward Path.

Not No-Thing But Supreme-Thing

It is not God (“No-Thing” according to the mystics) which the mystics see, but the Soul or more rarely the Spirit. The vision is a mind vision.

To arrive at the real Supreme-Thing, which is the inward mind destination of the “No-Thing” of the Soul, we must evolve materially through the higher dimensions of being, activated by the Spirit Within.

The Inward Soul is only the symbolic experience of the Godhood evolved to.

Design and Evolution

Species show they evolve by adapting to the environment, in this sense they were not “designed” all at once, and the DNA consists of million of defunct copies of DNA which show no apparent foresight in how they develop.

But what drives DNA? The environment adapts the species, but what supplies the internal activation? An internal activation would not literally be the designer of the species, natural selection would be. But “metaphysically” this activation is the designer of the species, because without activation there would be no adaptation.

The material Kosmos requires the same metamaterial activation and design to evolve and adapt, activated by the Spirit of God.

Comment on Goethe quote

“The Value of an Idea Is Proved by its Power to Organize the Subject Matter.”

Goethe

But is not that another idea? The value of an idea is always less than the living object it describes.

Implicit/Explicit Kosmos

God creates the Kosmos with implicit potential. The Kosmos then can develop in a variety of explicit ways through evolution, pushed on by the implicit force of God, the Spirit. The Kosmos is not merely explicit evolution, as material science suggests, it is also this implicit activation. This is the essence of the Involutionary Inward Path (implicit) and the Evolutionary Outward Path(explicit) to Godhood.

Church and State

The Church has separated itself from secular concerns essentially because the material world is not really a concern of the Church, the spiritual world is---if the Church showed concern for the material world, it was only to try to make the material world conform to the needs of the spiritual world and not for material world actions in themselves. The Church claims “Christian Realism” against “sentimental humanitarianism” yet both can be sentimental and unreal.

Can the “two swords” of Church and State be joined? The sword of faith of the Church, which is of the Involutionary Inward Path, and the “sword of secular justice,” which is of the Evolutionary Outward Path can both be included in the Theoevolutionary Church (TC).

For example, if the justice of the state follows the justice of the Evolutionary Outward Path in seeking to secure evolution to Godhood through such so-called secular methods as lightly federated independent ethnostates, with men and states seeking independently to evolve to Godhood, then the state can be affirmed in TC.

This means that the Church and State can be considered one when the state affirms the values and moral laws of the Church; but if the state does not affirm the values and moral laws of the Church, then there is obviously a separation of church and state. TC can work with the state in either case.

Other examples: The Constitution of the United States calls for virtually independent states within a light federation, and TC affirms the Constitution as interpreted this way. We would therefore support a return to U.S. Constitutional Law. The New Right call for “Europe of a thousand states” in a light federation, and perhaps Neo-Eurasian Nationalism, could also be affirmed by TC.

Ours is a Revitalized Conservatism and in this sense not revolutionary. Ordered Evolution is our calling.

Ultimate Purpose

Science tends to lead to cultural nihilism, religious iconoclasm, and psychotherapy tends to affirm a return to understand only the human instincts. When things of the Spirit are considered in this limiting way, what is left but pure goalless instinct and solipsism?

The instinct of sexuality has a purpose beyond the basic instinct to procreate. Sex and reproduction are ultimately derived from the call of Godhood to the Spirit to evolve to Godhood, the highest good, the most beautiful, the ultimate truth, which we have the great urge to evolve to. This is the ultimate purpose behind instincts and reproduction which science and psychology and, alas, even religion do not affirm.

The Laws of Spiritual Matter

Spiritual matter is subject to the laws of spiritual matter. This does not mean that spiritual matter is no longer subject to the laws of material matter, but subject to a far more subtle level of laws that science is still discovering and which mystics have been examining for many ages.

Evolution As Architect With Goal

One of the reasons the mystery schools emphasized that God's universe was in His Mind first, like an architect, before he created the world, is that they didn't see how evolution could create the world. God creates the Kosmos out of His Object Being through his Holy Spirit, whether God has thought of this first in His Mind or not.

Evolution has since been denied a goal by positivist science so that the world looks entirely random. Evolution creates the universe, but it has a goal, the goal is Godhood, and this goal works along with nature, giving nature some freedom in the path to the goal, as history does repeat itself, but not always in the same way. The Spirit Within life activates life to Godhood, working with the natural world and evolution.

We do not have to reject Nietzsche’s naturalism

We do not have to reject Nietzsche’s naturalism to see the Will to Power (Will to Godhood, or the Spirit-Will-To-Godhood) as attaining (or arising from) something “transcendent.” But to see this we must see the Spirit-Will deriving from and activating naturalism, from real life, and we must see the “transcendent” as not really transcendent but existing at the Zenith of Natural Evolution, as Godhood.

(This was a response to Gornahoor)

Spirit Confounded With God

When Traditional religion speaks of God, for example, “God is hidden within the innermost aspect of things.” (Kathopanishad 1.3.12), they are really speaking of the Spirit, or the Soul, and not of God.

This is the great error of Tradition, to confound the Spirit-Within of the Involutionary Inward Path with the God-Without of the Evolutionary Outward Path. The Spirit is the Seed of the Kosmic Summit and the Kosmic Center, the Activating Force, but the Spirit is not Godhood.

The Outward Path is not only ignored by these Traditions, a Great Spiritual Blockade is set up against God. The Evolutionary Christian Church seeks to rescue both Inward religion and Outward science and evolution from those that have limited them.

On Vedanta

“I am God” (aham brahmasm), the Supreme Truth of Vedanta, is only half the truth.

The Supreme Consciousness at the center of our being, or the Self, also called Atman, is only just that, consciousness of the Spirit Within the Soul, the God within us, or at least consciousness of the Soul Within. But real “God Consciousness” exists only within God's Actual Body, just as our consciousness exists within our body.

The other half of the truth missing in Vedanta is that we evolve materially, biologically or biospiritually to the God we have so far only seen from within and have wrongly defined as “I am God.” This great arrogance needs to be amended. If we want to be God, or attain Godhood, we have a long, long way up in evolution to travel, certainly far beyond the human species.

As the Tao

“Those who want to institute a process at variance with human nature cannot make it function as an ethical system.” (Chung-yung, 13.1)

Evola said that Plato defined “justice” along similar lines. (Republic 432 d, 434 c)

Nature flows or evolves and human nature which is part of nature should not flow or devolve in contrast to it. Evolution to Godhood is the Tao which human nature must harmoniously flow with.

Affirming the Presence Not Absence

When matter was called “the absence of all existence” by the Traditional Religions, a Great Spiritual Blockade against material evolution was set up, which religions are still biased by.

If we were playing tit for tat with this perspective we might say that the Soul was the absence of all existence, which modern science has tended to do. But this is not our position.

We seek to combine the Spirit-Will, the Soul and Matter, and religion and science, by synthesizing the Inward Path of spiritualism, and the Outward Path of materialism. We include and require both to attain Godhood. The Outward Path features “work” the Inward Path features “faith,” but both affirm both work and faith, they only emphasize them differently.

We affirm not the absence of the Soul, the Spirit-Will or the material, thus we affirm the presence of both the material and the Spirit-Will which activates the material in the Two Paths.

Entering the Greatest Depression in History

by Andrew Gavin Marshall

“While there is much talk of a recovery on the horizon, commentators are forgetting some crucial aspects of the financial crisis. The crisis is not simply composed of one bubble, the housing real estate bubble, which has already burst. The crisis has many bubbles, all of which dwarf the housing bubble burst of 2008. Indicators show that the next possible burst is the commercial real estate bubble. However, the main event on the horizon is the “bailout bubble” and the general world debt bubble, which will plunge the world into a Great Depression the likes of which have never before been seen...”

A hypertrophied Involutionary Inward Path

Here is a typical Involutionary Inward Path quote entirely missing the Evolutionary Outward Path, and thereby missing Godhood.

"Surrender is giving oneself up to the origin of one’s Being. In due course, we will know that our glory lies where we cease to exist."

—Sri Ramana Maharshi from World Wisdom

"...Cease to exist!" That can be seen a grotesque when material-supermaterial evolution is the path to Godhood.

The impassable problem with those who affirm the term “Evolutionary Enlightenment”

The central problem, the impassable problem, with those who affirm and fit the term Evolutionary Enlightenment ( eg. Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Sri Aurobindo, Henri Bergson, Alfred North Whitehead, the German Idealist philosophers, and more recently Andrew Cohen, and Ken Wilber) is that they more or less carefully sidestep politically incorrect, material, human evolution to center on only the evolution of consciousness or spirituality. They believe man has been developing a divine consciousness and that “we must continue this process of development so that we can reach our greatest potential as human beings...” (Savitri Era Learning Forum) It is very nearly ludicrous to think that human beings can attain Godhood; only evolution to superhumans and much later Gods can approach Godhood, Who must be evolved to in the Kosmos.

This represents what we call the The Great Spiritual Blockade against material evolution, and it is very serious mistake indeed since the only way we can reach the Godhood that these people have at least seen inwardly, and defined as nonmaterial, is through material evolution. Godhood may consist of a substance we cannot classify, thus God is wrongly defined as beyond all substance, and 'spiritual," but it is a substance reached or attained through material evolution to the Zenith of Evolution.

The Evolutionary Outward Path of the Theoevolutionary Church seeks to balance this great and ancient imbalance by including the Involutionary Inward Path of Traditional religion in the Outward Path of evolution to Godhood.

The Pattern of the Microcosmic and Macrocosmic in Man and God

Is the seed of man all of man? No. It is the microcosmic aspect of man. So, the God Within, the Spirit Within the Soul of man is not the whole of God. The seed of man leads to man, the seed of the Kosmic Summit leads to God. We mature from seed to child to man, we evolve from plant to animal, to man, to superman, to Gods, to Godhood. This is the pattern of evolution we see.

Night and Day, The Basic Duality

The real “duality” in human behavior is day and night—--the nighttime Dionysus needs to be harmonized with the daytime Apollo—--we need a shift-change-briefing where the irrationality of the night is synthesized into the rational day.

The wild and dark insights of the night, of the dreamworld, and the sleepless world, are very creative but need to be harmonized with Apollo in the morning.

The Inward Path is the dark, the Dionysian Path, the Soul, the Kosmic Center, with the absence of the Spirit of the Apollonian day. The Outward Path is the light, the Apollonian Path, the Spirit as the Kosmic Summit, the White Mountain beyond the sun, Godhood, beyond the Kosmic Center. This is why the light leads the dark, as the Spirit leads the Soul.

Even though the Inward Path affirms the Revealed Religions of Tradition, the Inward Path includes this Dionysian definition mainly because of the Inward Path's virtual rejection of material life, which is highly irrational, and irrationality is the basis of Dionysus. Also the Soul of the Inward Path exists in the human unconscious psyche which, at least in Western psychology, is the home of Dionysus. Apollo is assigned to the Spirit which is the Zenith of the Soul because it has the material, rational and even scientific goal of material evolution to Godhood. Yet Dionysus and Apollo are harmonized in EC.

The Soul is the sun, the Spirit is the Kosmic Summit far beyond the sun, the exclusive Inward Path believes it sees the sun when it is seeing the reflecting moon. The Outward Path seeks the star or the Kosmic Summit of Godhood.

Harmonizing Evolutionary Humanitarianism and Traditional Conservatism

Russell Kirk said humanitarianism is the ideology which denies the divine and declares the omnicompetence of human planners. (Redeeming The Time)

TheTheoevolutionary Church (TC) does not deny the divine, yet has great faith in human planners. We harmonize Traditional Conservatism with an evolutionary humanitarianism.

Our Mission

Imperialistic people, religions and states wish to destroy everything other than their own imperialism, in trying to establish themselves they destroy the order of the whole world, but then, as Kirk points out, they forget to ask what happens afterward.

We must move forward in evolution while conserving Perennial Traditions. This means we are against imperialism but for evolutionary progress. This is the Revitalized Conservatism we affirm.

Our mission is to reconcile conservative order with progressive evolution (Ordered Evolution) as we evolve to Godhood.

We speak of peace in the world by encouraging evolutionary variety, independent states, localism, with a very light federalism, we do not speak of peace through imperialism, not by creating a wilderness and calling it peace, as Tacitus said of the Romans. This is our model of justice in the world.

The Hijacking of Evolutionary Spirituality

We have noticed the rise of many groups in the field of evolutionary spirituality (“post-traditionalism”) but like past Traditional religions they carefully sidestep politically incorrect material human evolution to center on the evolution of consciousness or spirituality. Ken Wilber wrote “if evolution occurs, how can enlightenment have any meaning? … if everything is evolving, and I get enlightened today, then won’t my enlightenment be partial with the sun’s dawn?” Wilber suggests redefining an evolutionary enlightenment to mean “the realization of oneness with all states and all stages that have evolved so far and that are in existence at any given time.” (Wikipedia)

Money, too, is increasingly being made in these enterprises. This seems to be an unfortunate hijacking of the popular social trend toward affirming evolution in religion. This also relates to the hijacking of human evolution for those who seek “Singularity,” where machines evolve instead of humans.

Alas, this trend continues and prolongs the Great Spiritual Blockade against material evolution which blocks our true evolution to Godhood. These trends tend to clash with Fundamentalism which again sets up religious battle lines, the new against the old, Tradition against post tradition. The irony is that both groups pursue interior evolution, the inner dimension, while blocking out the outer dimension of evolution. The tragedy is that these interior-only movements usually lead to seeing all life as emptiness where both life and death become meaningless. It seems that Teilhard de Chardin's work in the evolution of consciousness-only through convergence, not divergence, is coming home to roost.

The ecumenism of the Theoevolutionary Church affirms both the Inward and Outward Paths to Godhood and not merely the Inward Path of raising consciousness.

On Consciousness, Evolution, and Godhood

The neurochemical basis of Enlightenment

It appears that consciousness is basically a neurochemical process of the brain (see Dennett's “Consciousness Explained”). We would greatly expand on this idea to say that the Soul, which we define as the Zenith of the Mind, or the Zenith of Consciousness, can see and know more and more as we evolve higher and higher “neurochemically” in evolution from man to superman, to Gods, and to Godhood.

It is not only the Soul, or consciousness that evolves, which is usually the position of the exclusively Involutionary Inward Path Religions. The mind and body evolve TOGETHER all the way to Godhood, the Evolutionary Outward Path of evolution fulfills the Involutionary Inward Path goal of the conscious Soul.

The human heart or Soul cannot “go to the lengths of God” (Christopher Fry), it can only identify the goal of Godhood. The “within of things” in involutionary religion does not truly go outside the space of the human senses, interior enlightenment is still virtually a neurochemical process, however rare it may be.

The Spirit may be both immanent and transcendent but it remains locked (but not imprisoned since the body is the vehicle for the evolution of the Spirit) within material life activating material life to evolve to Godhood. The Spirit remains at the Zenith of the Soul, activating all life to evolve to Godhood.

How God Relates To Evolution And The Search For Scientific Truth

Biased Use of Science?

Ideally science is not biased. It is supposed to be an unbiased tool that can be used in any research. But culture, the political environment, can bias the direction of the use of the tool of science. Political bias can be affirmed by an unbalanced amount of scientific research done on one side while neglecting the other side. Political correctness and political incorrectness can thus effect the direction of science.

Proof of God in the Search for Scientific Truth?

It seems that we can't find the Absolute Truth with our human minds, since our minds were evolved, not really to find the truth, but to help us survive and reproduce successfully (see John Haught's “Deeper Than Darwin”)

Many times in our history we have found truths, objective scientific truths, but Darwinism seems to say that we found such truths principally to allow ourselves to survive and reproduce successfully, and not principally for truth's sake. Yet science claims objective truth which seems to counter the mind's purpose for seeking truth.

We keep searching for the “truth” because, scientifically speaking, truth helps us survive and reproduce successfully. Absolute Truth, then, under this definition, would seems to help us survive absolutely, even infinitely, so we therefore ceaselessly seek Absolute Truth.

It would seem that the more intelligent we are, or the higher consciousness we have, the more “truths” of the Kosmos we can find, even though our motive for finding truths might not change, that is, the motive of survival and reproductive success.

If we evolve higher intelligence and higher consciousness these things will supposedly lead to higher truths and better survival ( at least this applied until recent negative technological advances.) We can therefore not only predict more truths discovered, but better survival secured with higher intelligence and higher consciousness.

If we carry this “logic” far enough, the way to assure ourselves endless survival and Absolute Truth is to evolve to a condition which has, or contains, endless survival and Absolute Truth: this defines God. This is the way the Theoevolutionary Church (TC) sees the pattern of evolution.

This suggests that our yearning for Absolute Truth is a yearning for absolute survival and this, in effect, means a yearning for God who is the logical end to the search for truth and survival.

When materialism claims there is no god in the Kosmos, it is denying, it seems to me, the very origin or motivation for its own search for Absolute Truth.

God is seen in this scientific search for truth and this is the God that the Theoevolutionary Church describes.

How Human Evolution Works and Why

We take the still controversial position that human evolution is driven by selection among groups (recently reaffirmed by E. O. Wilson), and groups are based upon genetic and cultural selection among individuals. Natural selection of individuals is directed toward forming a successful group. Ethical and cultural conditions are then developed for successful adaptation and advancement in survival and reproduction.

We add to this the very controversial religious position that along with outward evolution, we are inwardly activated by the Spirit, which seeks to evolve to Godhood, and the Spirit works with natural evolution to attain this supreme goal. Religion can make contact with the Spirit Within, which is both transcendent and immanent in the Involutionary Inward Path.

Group/Individual Values

One of the central advantages of Catholicism is that it values the community, the group, at least as much as the individual and perhaps more, whereas the Protestants have tended toward a more individualistic ethos, which can sometimes negate the group. This makes Catholicism naturally conservative.

As it turns out, religion is the best social bond for selection among groups and individuals in any case. Evolution is thus served by religion and religion is served by evolution.

The Jeffersonian-Lincolnian Position Regarding Ethnostates: Revitalizing What We Have

We need to give the States the power they have in the Constitution, rather than thinking in terms of succession or devolution into a Union of States as George Kennan proposed before his death, or as the more controversial Wilmot Robertson proposed before his death. And Regionalism can be revitalized as well.

The Principle of Subsidiarity (Catholicism) can be reaffirmed, local people and organizations perform more effectively than a more distant central organization. Each state within the American Federal System could even be thought of as an “Ethnostate,” if independence and variety are fully reaffirmed.

The States must be safe within the Union, but the Union must allow the States great strength and independence. This defines a Jeffersonian-Lincolnian position, with individuals and society prior to government (Jeffersonian) and States as units of the central government (Lincolnian).

The structure of Economic Nationalism needs the central government to protect the businesses within the independent States from global exploitation. This is affirmed in Revitalized Conservatism.

Virtues of Development in the Theoevolutionary Church

The Involutionary Inward Path Virtues: Prudence, justice, courage, temperance ( from the Greeks), faith, hope and charity (from the Christians).
The Evolutionary Outward Path Virtues( from Beyondism ): Evolution.

The vices run contrary to these virtues and oppose them. “Satan” is the dynamic behind the vices, with his minions of entropy---the Kosmic Center represents Satan. The Spirit, or the Will to Godhood, is behind the virtues leading to Godhood at the Kosmic Summit, the White Mountain.

Christianity synthesized the Greek virtues with the Christian virtues, the Theoevolutionary Church synthesizes the Christian virtues with the Evolutionary virtues.

It is the Christian virtues that give grace to all the virtues, both Christian and Beyondist.

What Makes America Great Also Works for the Theoevolutionary Church

As Burke, Brownson and Kirk pointed out, the true idea of the state secures the authority of the public and the freedom of the individual, that is, individual freedom without anarchy, and the dialectical union of authority and liberty.

This was, and still is, America's mission and this is what makes the American system great. The political model for America places order and freedom in a healthy balance or tension.

Achieving this balance has always been the central problem in politics. It has not been realized fully in America. We need to reaffirm this tradition within the United States Constitution.

I think the Theoevolutionary Church (TC) can work well within a Republic of liberty under law, with a balance of order and freedom.TC applies a similar tension between evolution and order (Ordered Evolution), between the goals of material evolution and the conservative need to maintain what has been chosen through evolution as Tradition. This does not mean, however, that TC could not work within another system that recognized both evolutionary freedom and Tradition.

Politics is the art of the possible, it has been said, and unchecked freedom and evolution will not bring us our goal of evolving to Godhood. We need the order of Tradition (Involutionary Inward Path) along with the freedom of evolution (Evolutionary Outward Path).

"Spitzer: Federal Reserve is ‘a Ponzi scheme, an inside job"

by Daniel Tencer (from "Global Research")

"The Federal Reserve — the quasi-autonomous body that controls the US’s money supply — is a “Ponzi scheme” that created “bubble after bubble” in the US economy and needs to be held accountable for its actions, says Eliot Spitzer, the former governor and attorney-general of New York..." (cont. essay here)

Allowing Both Nominalism and Anselm's Ontological Proof in the Two Paths

It seems that one has to lean toward Nominalism on the one hand, yet allow Anselm's Ontological Proof on the other hand. We do this in the Evolutionary Christian Church (ECC) with the Two Paths.

The Involutionary Inward Path is the Path leaning toward ontological proof which says that God can be seen in the mind--we would say seen in the Zenith of the Mind which is the Soul. But this is not the complete God, or a complete understanding of God, although many mystics have seen God this way using reason, common sense, intuition, insight and even revelation.

The Evolutionary Outward Path says that the God of “things” the God leaning toward the nominalists, actually exists as a Supreme Thing, a Supreme Object, which we can evolve to through material-supermaterial evolution. This holds out the promise of scientific proof of Godhood. Reality does exist as “things” and there is a Supreme Thing called God, Who, after must mystical work we can partially see or experience in the mind.

This is how we close the age-old debate. Accepting only one of these Paths limits the understanding of Godhood. Accepting both Paths gives one the whole picture of God in human history, evolution and Tradition, the God of both spiritualism and materialism.

ECC also contains the dynamic of “faith seeking understanding” as we see The Great Pattern in material evolution teleologically, leading from the simple to the complex, from lower consciousness to higher consciousness all the way to Godhood in the cosmos, the God first seen in the mind.

The Two Paths also close the separation of Spirit and Matter in Gnosticism, the Dark-Light dichotomy of Tradition, and the Unconscious-Conscious conflict in psychology.

God Is Not Nowhere

“All, no matter how different the grade, is still animated.” (Spinoza, Ethics)

The position of the Theoevolutionary Church (TC) is that Spirit and Matter do not struggle against one another as “good” and “evil,” or as power and resistance, the Spirit-Will activates matter and, along with the Soul-Mind, guides matter upward in evolution to Godhood, which is the way the Spirit Itself “returns” to Godhood. The Spirit needs matter for this goal.

On the Disembodied God

The “Divine Intelligence” and the “Word” may shape the cosmos but only in a disembodied way. Divine Intelligence issues from the Supreme Body of God, within the Mind of God, which is within the Supreme Object God. We do not, as in the Zohar (Kabbalah) and in Plato, affirm a disembodied god. Although the Kabbalah seems to suggest a unity in God of cause and form, the Kabbalah nevertheless seems to subordinate the struggle between Spirit and Matter to be an absolute principle, which more or less amounts to the same thing as Plato's disembodied Idea of God.

If there is an “inexhaustible source” from which Spirit and Matter go forth it is in the Primordial Spirit-and- Matter and not merely an infinite principle, as in Ayn Sof.

God is not “everywhere and nowhere” as in Plotinus and the Kabbalah, God cannot be “nowhere” unless God is merely a denotation, an equation, merely symbolizing an object, which Godhood is not. God is only a denotation in these mystic initiations.

Godhood is not above or beyond existence, God is the Zenith of Material-Supermaterial Existence.

Body Replaces Symbols

According to Adolphe Franck, in mysticism symbols replace ideas. But in theTheoevolutionary Church the Supreme Body, the Supreme Object, replaces symbols, which are seen as only the mirror of, or at best the Mind of the Supreme Body. This seems to be the opposite or a transvaluation of most forms of mysticism.

But the Theoevolutionary Church does affirm these ancient mysticisms in the Involutionary Inward Path, which we think probably originated in a Perennial Tradition going way back to northern Hyperboria. We add to this the Evolutionary Outward Path which makes possible evolution to the Godhood so long ago seen in the Inward Path of Tradition.

Answering How, Why and Where?

Connecting Religion and Science

Some say that science cannot tell us why things exist and how we should live, that there is no evidence in the physical world of science to answer these questions. But the science of sociobiology has answered these questions, and before sociobiology Darwin answered these questions, although perhaps less precisely than sociobiology. The problem is that people did not accept the answers of Darwin and sociobiology to these questions.

How?

We can say that sociobiology tells us how to live, and that we are supposed to enhance our successful survival and reproduction, and that the paths to this goal can vary with the given environment and with different people.

Why?

As to why things exist, we are here dealing more in “probability based on evidence.” Here we can see the patterns of an instinctive moral law within, and patterns in evolution, and patterns in the universe. The strong probability is that life is evolving from the simple to the complex, from lower to higher consciousness, with backwards going and sideways going along the way.

Where?

We are evolving to Godhood, the most complex consciousness in the Kosmos, and our natural instincts contain a moral law within which seeks Godhood in evolution through successful survival and reproduction. The Evolutionary Christian Church says, furthermore, that these probabilities of evidence will eventually turn into scientific physical evidence, although the word “physical” may have to be expanded or deepened to include something like “spiritual atoms.”

But faith does appear to remain above reason at this time.

Making Transcendence Immanent

The curse of “Ideology,” according to Russell Kirk, (Redeeming the Time), created murderous regimes that claimed they could make the symbols of transcendence immanent.

The Two Paths in the Theoevolutionary Church, one ordered and conservative (The Involutionary Inward Path) and the other evolutionary (The Evolutionary Outward Path) develop between them an “Ordered Evolution” which seeks in fact, over great time, to make the symbols of transcendence of the Involutionary Inward Path immanent by virtue of the Evolutionary Outward Path, that is, we evolve outwardly to the God we have first seen inwardly.

Our hopes are that this worldview can end the war between ideology and religion.

Regarding Jung's Idea of Culture and Consciousness Versus Instincts

I disagree, somewhat, with Carl Jung's core idea that the growth of consciousness (symbolized by the Fall of Man) causes man to turn away from or oppose the instincts, that consciousness seeks culture against instinctive drives. Consciousness grows at the prompting of the instincts. For me, this places the instincts in the proper order for trying to understand them. This way consciousness is not seen as something that grows at the expense of the instincts, which both Freud and Jung believed. I think we have not seen the real reason, the deepest reasons for the prompting of the instincts, ie, the Ideal of the Instincts is to evolve to Godhood.

Ignorance of the instincts causes man to create profane consciousness and profane cultures, but deeper knowledge of the instincts can cause man to create sacred consciousness and sacred cultures.

It is the Involutionary Inward Path of Traditional Religion, seen as an exclusive religion and an exclusive consciousness, which turns away from the instincts of the Evolutionary Outward Path. We need not blame consciousness for the death of, or burying of, the instincts. We can blame misdirected and profane consciousness and culture for the death of, or burying of, the instincts.

Traditional religion says goodbye to the instincts in the sense of saying goodbye to the Evolutionary Outward Path while keeping only the Involutionary Inward Path. When something inside of us or in culture cries out for the more certain path of nature and the instincts, this should not be thought of only as a brutal Dionysian tooth and claw dynamic, as it usually is, which greatly reduces the definition of the instincts.

In the image of the Garden of Eden, Satan does not merely offer the gift of consciousness in place of the instincts, as religion and Jung suggest, Satan offers, rather a turning away from the Ideal of the Instincts, which is the evolution to Godhood. Satan offers a transgression or perversion of the instincts away from the Ideal of the Instincts, or a devolutionary direction for the instincts, an entropy back to the Kosmic Center.

Contrary to Jung, we can go back, we are not condemned to a conscious Great Spiritual Blockade of the instincts in order to have civilization, or a great blockade of the Unconscious. The journey to the instincts is the true journey toward wholeness, but a wholeness which is not exclusively restricted to the human psyche, which defines Jung's Self. Jung's Self is a reduction of God to the human psyche (or an “inflation” of the Unconscious) whereas God is the Ideal of the Self, the Ideal of the Instincts, and we stop short of God when we journey only to the psychic Self.

Paul Craig Roberts descibes our economy straight between the eyes

"There is no economy left to recover. The US manufacturing economy was lost to offshoring and free trade ideology...."

Essay here: Can The Economy Recover? from the always true Economy In Crisis.

The Spirit Within does not want to block the ego

"Reality is simply loss of the ego. Destroy the ego by seeking its identity. Because the ego has no existence, it will automatically vanish, and Reality will shine forth by itself in all its glory. This is the direct method. All other methods retain the ego. In those paths so many doubts arise, and the eternal question remains to be tackled. But in this method the final question is the only one and is raised from the very beginning. No practices (sadhanas) are even necessary for this quest."
—Sri Ramana Maharshi World Wisdom

Comment on the above quote:
The ego stands for the material world and as such to rid the body or mind of the ego is to block or even murder the Body, but more than that, blocking the ego blocks your chance to evolve to Godhood. The Spirit Within does not want to murder the ego, it wants to activate the ego and the body to evolve to Godhood.

Change in history, and the concept of freedom

In answer to the concept of determinism in history, Russell Kirk said, quoting Burke: “Providence, chance, or strong wills abruptly may alter the whole apparent direction of... the meaning of history.” (Redeeming The Time) This seems largely true, and this would seem to answer Spengler's determined Seasons of civilization as well.

But within those strong willed men and women who may change history exists a determinism which puts a check on the concept of human free will. It is after all “providence” working through the materiel Spirit-Will within, and not even the Spirit-Will is “free.” The Spirit seeks to activate material life to Godhood so that the Spirit-Will Itself may reach Godhood. The natural world and evolution  must be negotiated by the Spirit-Will and the Body, the path is not always clear, but here there may be some choice. But the sacred goal is determined.

Statements do not exist without objects

“Statements do not exist without subjects.” Alexander Bard

What should be said is statements do not exist without objects. The way to define this is to say that Sacred Statements-Mathematics reflect Real Subjects-Mathematics, and Profane Statements-Mathematics do not reflect Real subjects-mathematics. God is usually defined in profane terms not reflecting Reality. The Supreme Object Godhood is Real but Sacred Statements-Mathematics about Godhood are still only reflections of the Supreme Object Godhood. Godhood the object comes before the Word of God, or any abstract mathematics defining Godhood.

Liberation Or Attainment

“Liberation cannot be achieved except by the perception of the identity of the individual spirit with the Universal spirit. It can be achieved neither by yoga, nor by Sankhya (analysis), nor by the practice of religious ceremonies, nor by mere learning.”-Shankaracharya

This is a classic Involutionary Inward Path view of Tradition. “Liberation” is here defined by “identifying” the individual Spirit with the universal Spirit, which is no small task in itself. However, this is not nearly enough, although Shankaracharya is right that yoga or analysis, ceremonies and learning (which are not that different in any case all being more or less defined in the Inward Path) won't get you there either. It won't get you there because it is more or less a liberation of the human Mind-Soul into the “universal spirit,” which was really an earlier and perhaps better version of the Jungian human Unconscious.

For Real liberation, or rather, for Real Attainment of Godhood, we must evolve all the way to Godhood through the “dreaded” and Spiritually Blockaded Evolutionary Outward Path of material evolution, leading to the Supreme Object Godhood. This is not merely identifying with God, this is attaining Godhood. The Evolutionary Christian Church affirms both the Inward and Outwards Paths.

Contrary to Plato and Badiou

(It is the power of appearance that leads us astray.
- Plato (Protagoras, 356 D)

"Ontology is mathematics."--Badiou) 1988 ---or did he mean that satirically?

What Plato, and the Eastern guru's mean by appearance is the real, and what they think is the real is only that, a thought. It is rather the power of the mind that leads us astray. The mind can lead us into definition and mathematics and away from the refined material, or evolved Real, which leads---after evolution activated by the material Spirit-Will, and guided by the Mind-Soul---to the Supreme Real Object, or Objects: Godhood.

Mathematics of God?

Ontology is not, or should not be, mathematics

Origin and Goal

Ontology or Being consists of the Real Supreme Object Godhood in the cosmos at the cosmic summit.

Sacred Mathematics would reflect Reality, profane mathematics would not reflect Reality. Both can be created but neither are enough. In this sense human philosophers, theologians and mathematicians who define God's mathematical form are applying doubtful mathematics since only Godhood's united Mind-Soul-Spirit-Body (or perhaps a penultimate God) knows the real mathematical formula of Godhood.

But all is not without hope. We can evolve materially-supermaterially to Godhood, activated by the Spirit-Will, guided by the Soul-Mind, in natural evolution, where we may then know the mathematics of God. But even then, the mathematics of God will only mirror the Real Supreme Object God as the Mind-Soul of God lives within God the Real Object and not apart from God in a mathematical form or denotation.

On Fascism, Conservatism and the Theoevolutionary Church

"Before the yews, no (evil) magic can remain."

Conservatives generally accept the concept that history arises from the cult, our religious bond regarding the sense of the sacred (see Kirk). Conservatives tend to downplay (but not overlook) the genetic qualities of the people bonding within the cult. Racialists say that history arises essentially from the race, from the genetic qualities of the people who develop the cult (see Cattell). Racialists tend to downplay (but not overlook) the religion of the people.

The Theoevolutionary Church (TC) affirms both Traditional religion and the genetic qualities of a people, and we insist on not singling out, for example, a “noble Aryan” or a “chosen Judaic.” Racial and state imperialism have damaged the variety and separation necessary for the true evolution of all of the human species, as well as destroying the maintenance of Traditions.

Ethnic Federalism in some form, with small independent states---for example, the U.S. Constitution, which is (or should be) tolerant of all religions and small states---seems to be a good way to proceed in the world of competing peoples and competing states. A balance of order and evolution (Ordered Evolution), or a balance of conservatism and evolutionary change is necessary. Conservatism alone tends to stagnate, and evolutionary change alone tends to destroy evolved Traditions. We need both. In TC, the Evolutionary Inward Path affirms Traditional religion and the Evolutionary Outward Path affirms evolutionary change. We must make it possible for all people and all states to evolve to Godhood.

Our existence is defined as the movement of evolution to higher and higher stages, and we must not on the one hand stagnate at any one level, or, on the other hand destroy the various levels which were so painfully attained. One day the laws of science may reveal the more precise manner in which we evolve to Godhood (Evolutionary Outward Path), which is the God first revealed in Traditional religions (the Involutionary Inward Path.) Our planet and the Kosmos moves with the force of evolution to Godhood and we must affirm this sacred bond with the Spirit if we are to save ourselves and the world. As the old religions fade we will need this transcendent bond for the rising worldview to endure, mere political ideology does not endure.

Denying The Determined

We seem to lack free will other than having some choice in the paths taken to a determined goal. Our actions arise largely from unconscious physiological and psychological processes. Now, how do we deal with this? Do we curse our fate? Well, we do not do what Nietzsche did and presume there is no goal to the Will other than an amoral power drive. Moral responsibility relates to seeing and accepting the goal, our Fate, that is. And what is so bad about evolving to Godhood, which is the goal of our Will (Spirit) and the goal of the cosmos? Perhaps we are too selfish to affirm Godhood if we cannot personally make it to Godhood? Denying this has caused many problems.

Objectivity

Positivists and many ideologues tend to be short sighted or reductionist. What is the relationship between Objectivity and the Object or Objects Godhood? Can the Object God be objectively understood? Here, higher evolved minds may be required, and furthermore, to understand God's Mind, we need to be God, or perhaps at least a Penultimate God. But will this understanding of God, by Gods, be objective, rational and scientific? The answer will be both religious and scientific, coming from intuition, faith, and revelation, which are not yet affirmed by modern thinkers, but we feel certain that Godhood can be defined by science as well, even if the scientists probably have to be evolved Gods to do so.

The moral crisis was inauthentic and premature

The modern moral crisis that supposedly arose from the “death of God” and the death of a moral view of the Kosmos was inauthentic and premature. The Kosmos is not morally neutral, it is full of life evolving to Godhood, which is the main purpose of the Kosmos.

Evolution offers moral direction in the Kosmos when guided by the Spirit and the Soul. The Evolutionary Christian Church is founded on the teleology of evolving to Godhood. The teleology of evolving human nature is the teleology of the evolving Kosmos.

Biology is not aiming at only human ends, it is aiming at superhuman ends, followed by Godly ends through evolution.

Ending Duality

The split between Spirit and Matter seems to go back further than the Revealed Religions to “pagan Shamanism,” which developed the idea of duality between Dream-Mind and Matter, thinking they could leave the body when dreaming. This was developed, it appears, in very ancient Hyperborean times.

This duality was then picked up, for example, in ancient Egypt and Babylon and by the founders of Judaism while they were in exile in these places. The same duality was carried to India and Iran where Hinduism and Zoroastrianism developed it further, eventually evolving a “oneness” doctrine which supposedly closed the duality by simply rejecting the material side of duality and calling the result oneness.

The Evolutionary Christian Church finally seeks to end this duality honorably by exhuming materialism and synthesizing it with spiritualism, as both the Spirit and Material Body must evolve together to Godhood.

From Transmigration To Evolution

The old religious idea of the Soul “developing all perfections” to return to the Absolute substance, after many trials, is really evolution in the Theoevolutionary Church (TC), but in the old religion it is was evolution devoid of material substance and confined only to the Soul, which is said not to be material.

The Soul travels through “metempsychosis,” supposedly, and “transmigration,” where the Soul has many trials and transformations. In EC this too is really evolution, although it is devoid of materialism in the old religions.

The Kabbalists say (see the Kabbalah by Adolph Franck) that Souls alone lack the power to regain heaven so therefore they seek other Souls to unite with to complete each other, with each Soul looking for a more virtuous or stronger Soul. This is really evolutionary reproduction in ECC and this progression can develop into evolutionary advancement.

In ECC this transmigration is rather smoothly transformed and returned to evolution, reproduction and evolutionary advancement. In TC it is the Spirit which activates the Soul and Body to evolve to Godhood.

Human Liberty And the Spirit

How do we reconcile liberty and the destination of the Spirit? We do not. Freedom is far more limited in man than has been hoped for. The Goal of the Spirit is determined but man does have some liberty in choosing the paths to the goal.

What has happened is that we have been in a sort of exile from the Spirit and Its Goal, we have blocked it, we have been taught directly or indirectly to desire more freedom than we are entitled to. A central task of the Evolutionary Christian Church is to get us back in line or in balance with the Spirit and Its Goal within human nature.

A very serious deception, or more likely ignorance, was played upon mankind in separating human nature from the determined—and not blind—force of nature. This deception is very old, going back perhaps to the times when Shamans in Hyperborea separated the Dream/Mind from the Body, and which was eventually picked up and expanded by Revealed Religions.

It is perhaps fear, or awe, of the determined path of the Spirit evolving to God, rather than love, which has led to the deception or ignorance regarding liberty. When we love the path and the goal, and do not fear it, then the path does not appear as restricted or limiting, or as something to rebel against.

The Reductions of Chardin

Teilhard de Chardin saw a progression from biological to psychological to spiritual evolution, but he seems to have moved away from biological evolution too soon. Psychological and spiritual evolution can only take place within biological evolution, or within the higher material/spiritual Objects of evolution. At the highest level, or Zenith of Evolution, Godhood contains the Zenith of all three aspects, biological, psychological and spiritual.

The “noosphere,” or collective mind over the globe, something like the internet, is actually limited by mankind's level of evolution. Therefore it too is a reduced destination for mankind, certainly when compared to a higher noosphere that might be created by higher beings or gods. We cannot be limited by the earth.

A problem with Chardin seems to be his preference for convergence over divergence in evolution. After convergence comes divergence without which higher and higher evolution is not possible. Peace on earth is a very worthy goal, but convergence often brings more war. Small, separate states make the best neighbors, especially when lightly federated.

The Heart Has Reasons

“The heart has reasons which the reason cannot know.” (Pascal)

Is sentiment a better guide than reason? The task is to understand the instincts which can lead to knowledge of the Ideal of the Instincts. This knowledge also comes from the mind (the Soul is the Zenith of the Mind) which may discern the direction of the instincts.

It is the Spirit-Will-To-Godhood which guides and activates the instincts, lightly turning the instincts toward the evolution to Godhood in the face of nature and natural selection.. And this is how we can affirm the aphorism above by Pascal.

Actual and Unactual Forms

Actual Forms mirror something Real and Actual. Unactual forms are unactual and do not mirror something actual.

The Highest Actual Form (or Forms) is Godhood.

Truth is related to Actual Forms not unactual forms. Untruths are unactual.

Mathematical Forms can either reflect or mirror actual or unactual forms. Actual Forms are mirrored by actual mathematical forms, unactual forms reflect unactual mathematics.

The Eternal Form of Godhood is Actual God and the Form is only the mirror of God, or the Actual Mind of God.
The Eternal Form, or Plato's First Principle, we define as not merely an Actual Principle but as Actual Godhood.

We seem to thus place ourselves in the camp of very ancient religion and not in the camp of philosophy, although we will apply modern philosophy, as well as science, when we may use it.

Notes On Politics, History and The Order Of The Outward Path

Politics and the State

The Theoevolutionary Church (TC) contains a synthesizing idea, unifying all aspects of life in religion, while at the same time being formally separate from the various political states it resides in.

The political state may or may not contain a theology but it can be guided by the morality and theology of the Church. However, “imperialism” is rejected since evolution and order work best in small, often federated states, or ethnostates, and the Church can guide many states without being imperialistic. The Involutionary Inward Path follows the ancient Perennial Tradition existing within all religions, and the Evolutionary Outward Path seeks to advance all religions and all people in their evolution to Godhood.

TC's position on political systems is that they represent various forms of political evolution and cannot be judged as absolute truth. We therefore pass over affirming any particular political system, although we are partial to some form of Ethnic Federalism, we hope to exist symbiotically within a variety of states. There cannot be a political doctrine good for all times and places, but there can be a religious doctrine good for all times and places.

We may seem revolutionary in the Outward Path but we are reactionary in the Inward Path, this makes a Conservative balance between Order and Evolution.

On History

TC refines the instincts in men toward the Ideal of the Instincts, which is the Evolution to Godhood.

TC conceives of life as evolution and all action is related to the aims of evolution, which has a moral aim in TC.

The Spirit, or the Will to Godhood, is an “objective” spirit which transcends the individual but does not deny the individual. The Spirit is seen as having a teleological goal in Its evolution to Godhood. Yet TC aims at being realistic in life and in actual history and in natural selection.

The Order of the Outward Path and TC lead men from lower to higher evolution and link men to the distant past and the distant future.

TC has its own conception of history in the sense that evolution is always moving toward Godhood, with starts and stops and devolutions along the way. Men are not puppets of history but history does evolve men forward inevitably, if we survive. In this sense we do believe in progress.

Organization

The main concern of the Order of the Outward Path is the religion and the work toward accomplishing its final goal. In this task the Order is central and individuals are secondary, although individual meritocracy is a highly prized valuation.

The Order of the Outward Path is a meritocracy seeing its members qualitatively and not quantitatively, therefore it will tend to be hierarchical in leadership.

The Order of the Outward Path is a manifestation of the Spirit, as is all life, but the Order is totally devoted to this manifestation.

The Spirit Also Needs The Body

It is true that the body cannot live without the Spirit, but what is not said is that the Spirit cannot live or evolve without the body. Indeed, the Spirit needs the body and activates the body to evolve to Godhood because this is the way the Spirit reaches Godhood.

With this understood, we can rescue material life from the Great Blockade and prison it has been placed in by those who do not understand that it is through material life activated by the Spirit, that we evolve to God. It is not the Spirit that has been imprisoned by matter, as the Gnostic perspective suggests, it is matter that has been imprisoned through this misunderstanding of the symbiosis of Spirit and Matter.

The Metaphysical System Of the Theoevolutionary Church

Matter Above Form

Now it is important to first say that the Supreme Body of God is not just ordinary matter, It is Matter evolved to It's Highest Point, the Zenith of Matter, the Zenith of Evolution.

The Theoevolutionary Church declares that “Form” is not above “Matter,” Matter is above Form, Form is a reflection of Matter and not the other way around. This brings the transvaluation of Tradition back to Reality.

The Spirit was never within the Absolute Truth, which is the Father, the Spirit was always and only within the Supreme Body of God, which was only reflected or mirrored by the Father.

When Godhood is attained the Holy Spirit is the Highest Aspect of the Spirit, or the Holy Spirit. The Spirit that is within all life is derived from the Holy Spirit but is not entirely the same as the Holy Spirit, the Spirit within life activates life to attain the Holy Spirit and the Supreme Body or Son.

Every Spirit and Soul in every being was at the Kosmic Summit before the Birth of the Kosmos, as the genes of a human being were in the genes of the father and the mother before we entered the world.

This does suggest a principle of “predestination” and it limits the concept of human liberty. However, it is the Great Goal of the Spirit that is predestined, whereas the Path to the Goal gives some freedom to man and to natural selection in evolution. An old Odinist aphorism says that only love and courage can change fate.

The Twilight Of The Gods And the Birth Of The Kosmos

The Soul and the Spirit Are Always United

The Soul and Spirit, or Mind-Body and Will to Godhood, are never separated. In Godhood they are united as the Son and Holy Spirit. When They evolve They do not split into separate male or female but each continue united in each being. That is, we do not see an “androgyny” here, as in Plato, and more so in the Kabbalah, and later in Jung.

Buchanan on Hamilton

“...Alexander Hamilton, the architect of the U.S. Economy... had served in the Revolution as aide to Washington and lived through the British blockades. He had led the bayonet charge at Yorktown. And he had resolved that never again would his country’s survival depend upon French muskets or French ships.

As first Treasury Secretary, he delivered in 1791 the “Report on Manufactures,” one of America’s great state papers. Reflecting on how close his country had come to losing its liberty, Hamilton wrote,

"Not only the wealth, but the independence and security of a country, appear to be materially connected with the prosperity of manufactures. Every nation … ought to endeavor to possess within itself all the essentials of a national supply. These comprise the means of subsistence, habitation, clothing and defense."

Under the Constitution he helped write, a national free-trade zone was created. Hamilton’s idea was to use tariffs to end our dependence on Europe and force British merchants to finance our government and the roads, harbors, and canals that would tie America together with commerce.

Tariffs would give our national government the revenue to operate, while providing our people both privileged access to the fastest growing market on earth and incentives to go into manufacturing. With American manufacturing thus encouraged, we would soon produce ourselves the guns and ships to defend the republic and the necessities of our national life so we could stand alone against the world.

For 12 decades, America followed Hamilton’s vision. On the eve of World War I, the 13 agricultural colonies on the eastern seaboard had become the richest nation on earth with the highest standard of living, a republic that produced 96 percent of all it consumed while exporting 8 percent of its GNP, an industrial colossus that manufactured more than Britain, France, and Germany combined.

The self-sufficiency and industrial power Hamiltonian policies created enabled us to rearm in security, crush the Axis in four years, rebuild Europe and Japan, and outlast the Soviet empire in a Cold War, while meeting all the needs of our people.

But in the Clinton-Bush free-trade era, Alexander Hamilton is derided as a “protectionist.” Woodrow Wilson’s free-trade dogma is gospel. Result: our trade surpluses have vanished, our deficits have exploded, our self-sufficiency has been lost, our sovereignty has been diminished, and an industrial base that was the envy of mankind has been gutted.

And for what? All that junk down at the mall? What do we have now that we did not have before we submitted to this cult of free trade? …”

The punishment and cure for gangster economics is economic nationalism

“It's a gangster state, running on gangster economics.” Matt Taibbi

How can we deal with the criminals in the banking system who virtually destroyed our financial system? Not with socialism, communism, or fascism, but with Economic Nationalism.

The big problem is that crony capitalism has recourse to enormous amounts of money, which it uses to control the political system. Getting rid of the deadly cancer will not be easy, if it is not already too late.

Will only the police or military be able to clean out this deep level of crime, and do it without creating fascism? Once Economic Nationalism prevails, we must be vigilant to keep it from being corrupted by the same criminal scum.

We should support Economic Nationalism however we can. Here is one organization exposing the scum and offering the cure of Economic Nationalism in clear language.

Bringing Mythos Back

I would say that of the two, Logos and Mythos, the Evolutionary Christian Church centers more on the Mythos. We see the Mythos more as the Object and the Logos as denotating and mirroring the object, which seems to be the opposite of the Gnostic view.

The Mythos in this sense has departed modern culture, more or less, as science has centered on Logos. But the odd thing is, Logos is not material and science is material. So there seems to be a tension, conflict or contradiction here.

On the Spirit and It's Goal

We agree with Plato in thinking that the Spirit can “recollect” God, from whence the Spirit came. This recollection is a longing, a great need, a great love, with which the Spirit needs to return to the Beloved. But unlike Plato we believe that the Spirit activates matter to evolve to Godhood.

The Spirit “travels” through reproduction (not exactly the same as “transmigration”) and the Spirit is always embodied, even when the Spirit reaches Godhood where It is embodied in God as the Holy Spirit. Evolution is the “ladder of love” to God.

Nature is not a principle

"Nature is not first of all this or that thing, like a tree or neuron, but the principle from which natural things arise." see Just Thomism blog.

But nature is this or that thing, a tree or a person or a God, nature does not arise from a principle, a principle arises from nature.
