The Promethean In The Sacred Art Of The Theoevolutionary Church

A reply to “Art from the Sacred to the Profane,” by Frithjof Schuon

Sacred Art is informed by the flesh made word of the Inward Path, and by the word made flesh of the Outward Path. Profane Art is not informed by the flesh made word of the Inward Path. The profane artist himself takes the place of the Spirit Within or he uses art models with no connection to the sacred.

Art is not defined as profane because it transmits only man, it is profane because it ignores the sacred.

Beauty becomes vital in Sacred Art because Perfect Beauty is the Form-Goal of the Activating Spirit in evolution, which is the Seed seeking the Trinity of Perfect Truth (Father), Perfect Beauty (Son) and Perfect Goodness (Holy Spirit).

The mission of Sacred Art is to transmit Perfect Truth, Perfect Beauty and Perfect Goodness, which then can expand the virtually abstract definition of Traditional Sacred Art. Attraction toward Beauty is attraction toward God. God is an Object not merely a definition.

Defining beauty as “Peace” is defining from the Father Aspect of the Trinity, which is Perfect Truth, and this truth does suggest peaceful repose. But the Trinity also suggests action, form, and power in evolution.

We can go back to, or go forward to, the Promethean, which was so demeaned by the Traditionalists. We are evolving to God in the Outward Path, and we must not be stunted by the Great Spiritual Blockade of Traditionalism that tends to pay attention “only” to the Perfect Truth of the Trinity while blocking the other two aspects of Perfect Beauty and Perfect Goodness, which must be materially evolved to.

Traditional Religion virtually rejects the material world, although it does valiantly try to redeem the material world theologically in the works of the Church Fathers. The Greeks were more humanistic. The Theoevolutionary Church (TC) seeks to synthesize the art of the East and the West. The human body and materialism can be brought back to religious art and formed by the evolutionary Beyondism of God, and moved by the Seed of Within, or the Holy Spirit.


Expanding Sacred Art

Frithjof Schuon said “In metaphysical truth there is neither here--below nor hereafter--everything is contained in it.” From this perspective comes the extreme forms of non representative and abstract art of Traditional Sacred Art.

The Inward Path is contemplative, the Outward Path is active, and both must be inclined to Sacred Art, just as they must both be included in religion. Traditional spirituality limits itself to the Inward Path and to pursuing and affirming Perfect Truth.

God is the Perfect Truth of Traditional Spirituality defined as the Father, but God, as the Trinity, is also Perfect Beauty (the Son) and Perfect Goodness (Holy Spirit). The Father as Perfect Idea defines the Son and Holy Spirit, which are the embodied Idea of the Father.

The Theoevolutionary Church affirms the Father (Perfect Truth) in our Involutionary Inward Path of seeing the Soul-Within, or the Kingdom Within, and TC affirms the Son and Holy Spirit (Perfect Beauty and Perfect Goodness) in the Evolutionary Outward Path of evolving the material world to God, the God first seen inwardly in the Involutionary Inward Path.

The Form-Goal of the Activating Spirit in evolution is Perfect Beauty, and the Action-Goal of the Activating Spirit in evolution is Perfect Goodness; these arrive at Perfect Truth through material evolution.

If one does not wish to copy nature but to “repeat” nature in its creative mode, as suggested by Schuon in Islamic Art, then one will, in fact, reflect evolution, contrary to Schuon. As Schuon put it, the sacred art of Perennial Spirituality “distrusts any materialization of religious subjects as if in fear that spiritual realities might become exhausted through an excess of sensory crystallization.”

TC can bring back a Center, a goal, a sacred material goal to art, rather than trying to avoid a Center in defining God only as universal spiritual truth, as is done in nonrepresentational Perennial spirituality.


Form Is Not Opposed to Essence

According to Schuon, form is necessarily opposed to essence, the latter being “universal inwardness” and the former “accidental outwardness.” This creates a problem. The “accidental” material is always disparaged in favor of “permanent” spirituality.

Perfect Truth that is spiritual is fulfilled as well as defined in Perfect Beauty and Perfect Goodness, which is the zenith of material evolution, as well as the completed Trinity.

With Form having once again taken its place in Godhood, Greek Art, which is too beautifully human to Schuon, can be exhumed and advanced once again. Perfect Beauty can be reflected in perfect human beauty. And since art contains evolution in TC, evolutionary beauty can also be explored. Perhaps we can even imagine beauty well beyond human beauty.

It is the idea of the “Extinction of Form in the Essence” which we do not affirm in religion or in art.

God does not resemble man or even superman---and traditional sacred art has been well aware of this. Schuon accuses Greek Art of no longer resembling God, but God resembling man. Traditionalists more or less reject Greek-Roman art as a deviation from Sacred Religious Art, but TC can affirm Greek-Roman art as an evolutionary art, pointing the way upward by symbolizing the evolution of man to Godhood through Beauty as well as through Truth.

The sacralizing element in Beauty relates to Godhood, not to the earth, but earthly beauty at it zenith is closer to the Divine and suggests the path to the Divine.

Traditional Sacred Art finds the symbol in the Soul Within and creates the style relating to the people, the culture, and the religion. TC finds in the Spirit Within the Seed and activation of the body to evolve to God and therefore the symbol can be brought back to the body.


The Body As Paragon

One could say that the marvels of Traditional Sacred Art, the Cathedrals, etc., are the exteriorizing of the Soul Within of the Involutionary Inward Path. In Traditional Sacred Art there is always a pull, or even a conflict between material virgin nature and the Soul Within, as if the body were too much contrary to the ways of the Spirit.

When the Soul Within is the “only” goal and not also the Spirit-Within-activation of material life, then material life can be demeaned. There can even be a split or conflict between them.

TC will bring Sacred Art back to the body since it is the body in material life that must evolve to Godhood. But we certainly do not forget about the Soul Within. The Spirit Within contains the Seed which is the Highest Element in material life and in our bodies. The Soul is the zenith of the mind in the Body, and the body is the Temple of the Spirit. The Body is the Temple of the “Order of the Outward Path.”

TC may bring man back to the “Golden Age” of Art by bringing man back to nature, back to virginal nature, back to materialism, as the ingredient with which to evolve to Godhood.

Traditional Sacred Art can be seen as showing the goal of Involution to the Soul Within, as symbolized in Temples, Mosques, Churches, Icons, and Rituals. This is certainly honored in TC as one of the Two Sacred Paths to God, that is, the Involutionary Inward Path.

TC revitalizes Traditional Sacred Art and the Involutionary Inward Path. The evolving body itself is the Temple and the material art of the Evolutionary Outward Path, including its goal of Godhood. What does God look like? This is the Mystery of the Outward Path.

In the Order of the Outward Path, the Sun and the Polar Star are superseded by the Kosmic Summit, and the Kosmic Summit is indirectly related to the evolving body. The material earth is redeemed as the sacred ingredient in the evolution to God, and the body is the Paragon of Evolution.

The Two Arts of the Inward and Outward Paths do not conflict, they compliment one another. The Inner God is the Outer God we must evolve to.

What we have dreamed of is real, the symbol is in our deepest heart is the Spirit Within and is real as the Supreme Material Object of our evolution to Godhood.

The highest possible degree of material Beauty must be returned to and redeemed from the decline of the body due to the Great Spiritual Blockade. The Half-Truth of the Inward Path joins the Half-Truth of the Outward Path to end the Great Spiritual Blockade of the Outward Path by the Inward Path.

The body is the activation of the essence within and the form of the evolution to God.


The Body And Object In Art

The function of all the arts is to bring the lower back to the higher, to bring the Spirit Within back to God. The body represents becoming-being, object, as contrasted with thought, or abstract thought. When God is an Object, a Body, then the body can come forward as a Sacred Symbol.

When the Spirit is opposed to the Soul (Body) then the body is demeaned, just as nakedness is wrongly opposed to clothing. If we are opposed to animal nature, then we downplay animal nature. The classical nudes are redeemed in the Sacred Art of the Evolutionary Christian Church, unlike Traditional Sacred Art where clothing is “opposed to nakedness as the soul is opposed to the body.” (Schuon) In EC the Soul is not opposed to the Body (Spirit) and the Priest is not opposed to the animal nature. Evolution is the process of Civilizing the Beast, the beast evolves to Godhood.

Perhaps like Traditional Christian and Buddhist art, the sacred art of TC will be centered on the bearer of evolution, the man-God, the superman. The ancient Greeks seemed to have used this subject matter, even if Schuon thinks this art was not enough informed by the sacred.

In TC we do not speak of the “resignation to the Will of God” but of the Assent of the Spirit to God. Inward art marks the descent to the Soul-Within, outward art the assent of the Spirit to Godhood.

God cannot be represented realistically because we do not know how God looks, and we probably will not know until we attain Godhood. But we can represent Beauty and Goodness and Truth in their highest human and superhuman forms and expressions.

When we “exteriorize a metaphysic” or show “an image of infinity,” we will not leave materialism out of the picture.


Positive and Negative Theology in the Arts

In the Arts, the Positive Theology of TC does not, as in Traditionalism and Negative Theology, search for or “recall” a lost Paradise of melancholy. Positive Theology is not about a lost Paradise but about a future Paradise at the end of evolution. The Spirit Within the Body does not mourn for a lost Paradise but anticipates the Paradise to come.

Indeed the Spirit “remembers” Paradise, as Plato suggested, as the Spirit is the Seed of Godhood. But it is not a lost Paradise but a future Paradise which helps activate material evolution.

Art should be ascending more than descending. The Inner Path descends to the Soul but then the Outer Path ascends to the destination of the Spirit, not within, but without, in the evolution to Godhood. Traditionalism “only” descends to the Soul, seeing no ascent through materialism.

“Greatness pre-exists in things” (Schuon), yet in Traditionalism greatness tends to stop there at the Soul Within. In Positive Theology the “Dance of Shiva” brings Atma back to Maya, not Maya back to Atma, as in negative theology. The inner is brought to the outer, the outer is only secondary to the inner.


Making an Idol of the Soul

We can bring Eros, survival, and reproduction back to the sacred, after it has been largely exiled (with a few Primordial exceptions) by Traditionalism due to its materialistic content, which is considered inferior.

The essence of survival and reproduction is the thirst for Heavenly Beauty. When this Sacred Goal is missing, sex and reproduction can be defined as profane.

Sacred Art follows this progress, or thirst for Heavenly Beauty, whereas profane art does not. The Spirit Within and the Soul-Within “recall” this beauty within but also help activate the thirst for the beauty without. Traditionalism tends to see and define only the recalling inner path, making an Idol of the Soul Within; Traditionalism then puts up a Great Spiritual Blockade against the thirst for beauty without.

Beauty can be exhumed from this neglect. “Eros with ethics” was the way someone defined advanced Paganism but this was lost in the spiritual abstractions of the Inward Path of Revealed Religions. The Order of the Outward Path of Evolution to God brings Eros back, reproduction and evolution to God can be affirmed. This can bring the Spirit of Beauty back to religion.

Life need not be thought of as “sinking” to scientific rationalism any more than it should sink to spiritualism. Both have been idol-worshiping at one time or another. In TC the balance between the Inward Path (Soul Within) and the Outward Path (Evolution to God) avoids both types of idol worship.

Traditionalism made an idol of the Soul Within even as it virtually rejected the earth and the material world calling these things idol worship. God is a Sacred Object in the world, not merely an equation outside the world defined as Perfect Truth, or the Father. Traditionalism gave us a hubristic authority beyond the world, beyond the stars, and Traditionalism continues to supplant astronomy and biology with the exclusivity of the Inward Path.


Religion and Art

The Form of God is the ultimate aim of art, religion and the evolution of life. Developing religion was, along with Divine Grace, motivated by an innate need to create order and harmony, almost the way a composer composes a traditional symphony. Religion in this way, is related to art, whose purpose is to create a finite image of infinity.

But art cannot become a substitute for religion as it perhaps did in nineteenth century Romanticism, art should be an adjunct or an affirmation of religion.

We hope we have shown here that we do not stand against Traditional Sacred Art, but against its exclusivity, its blocking out the evolution of the material world, as it reflects its Gnostic base of affirming the Soul and denying the material. The Traditionalists bemoan the decadence of the world but they make it virtually impossible for the world to narrow itself into their blocked spiritual world.

The Sacred Art of the Theoevolutionary Church has a Promethean and a Faustian quality, we stretch, we reach, we evolve to define the Highest Beauty, Truth and Goodness.

The True is the Splendor of the Beautiful

Frithjof Schuon said "The Beautiful is the Splendor of the True," and metaphysicians like Shankara, Plato, Plotinus and Meister Eckhart seem to agree with him.

It is not a minor point to say rather that the True is the Splendor of the Beautiful. The True is the defining Father Aspect of the Trinity, which in this case defines the Beautiful. If one makes of God “only” the Perfect Truth one appears to be rejecting the Trinity and the Perfect Object of God, which is more fully defined as the Trinity: Perfect Beauty (Son), Perfect Goodness (Holy Spirit) and Perfect Truth (Father).

The spiritual is essentially on the material continuum

Both the “material” and the “spiritual” are real, as the spiritual is essentially on the material continuum, which is really the supermaterial. The sages who said and still say that the material is unreal—perhaps beginning with the Hyperboreans and continuing through the East and West—have it wrong. The simple people were right, there is an actual heaven, perhaps not resting on a turtle, but actual, but it is related to materially evolving to the highest life.

The sensual world and the spiritual world are on the same continuum, evolution brings us from the sensual to the spiritual or the supermaterial. The spiritual is connected to the phenomenal world, although it is the highest evolved aspect of the material world and it is “spiritual” in that sense. Strictly speaking, Spirit is supermaterial. Idea is spiritual. Idea “defines” material objects. The Body contains the Soul, the Spirit is within the Body helping to activate the Soul to Godhood.

The Theoevolutionary Church reaffirms women as sacred

The Theoevolutionary Church reaffirms women as sacred, overturning centuries of the Dark Denial of Women. The Dark Denial was and is the Traditional and Orthodox denial of women as the sacred partner in the Outward Path of breeding toward Godhood. Beauty breeds toward Godhood, which is Perfect Beauty. The Great Spiritual Blockade was largely blocking “material” women from “spiritual” men. Perhaps the present revival of Goddess worship relates to this Dark Denial of Women.

About ontological proof (Schuon)

“To be able to accept the ontological proof of God, which deduces from the existence of an innate concept the existence of the objective reality corresponding thereto, one must begin by realising that the truth does not depend on reasoning – obviously it is not reason that has created it... In every act of assent by the intellect there is an element which escapes the thinking process, rather as light and colour elude the grasp of geometry, which can, none the less, symbolise them indirectly and remotely. There is no such thing as “pure proof”; every proof presupposes the knowledge of certain data. The ontological proof, formulated by Saint Augustine and Saint Anselm, carries weight for the person who already has at his disposal some initial certainties, but it has no effect upon the willfully and systematically superficial mind... Some of the Scholastic philosophers were too Aristotelian to be able to accept the usefulness of the ontological proof; reason was considered by them as leading to a certainty that was in some way new, rather than to Platonic “reminiscence.”

The Enduring Power of Ethnic Nationalism

In a recent column Pat Buchanan drew attention to this essay, "Us and Them, The Enduring Power of Ethnic Nationalism," By Jerry Z. Muller, from Foreign Affairs, March/April 2008.

More beast than god

Plotinus supposedly said “ Humankind is poised midway between the gods and men,” but we are nowhere near midpoint, we are still more beast than god. The future of man is not “merely” the god consciousness within of Traditionalism, we must move beyond the bliss of experiencing the Soul-Within to the actual object of Godhood, following our evolution to God.

Pierre Teilhard de Chardin defines evolution

"Is evolution a theory, a system, or a hypothesis? It is much more—it is a general postulate to which all theories, all hypotheses, all systems must henceforth bow and which they must satisfy in order to be thinkable and true. The origin of the demeaning of the evolving material world

Math, physics, philosophy and most theology does not really try to understand “Reality,” they are more interested in definitions on paper or in the mind that are mathematical, intellectual, theological. At best they are interested in a definition of Perfect Truth but not the Object Perfect Beauty or the Object Perfect Goodness or the Object Defining Perfect Truth. They are not speaking of the object itself which is real. In essence they don't seem to really believe in Godhood the Perfect Living Object or Objects. This is the origin of the demeaning of the evolving material world. Why? Fear? Lack of courage? Lack of the right kind of intelligence?

Mistaking God

“You speak as if you are here, and the Self is somewhere else and you had to go and reach it…But in fact the Self is here and now, and you are always It. It is like being here and asking people the way to the ashram, then complaining that each one shows a different path and asking which to follow.” —Sri Ramana Maharshi (from World Wisdom)

The statement above speaks “only” of the Soul Within. The “Self” mentioned is not God but the Soul or Zenith of the mind. We must evolve to God from the material to the material-spiritual. We may learn about the Soul-Within and even experience the bliss of God from the Inward Path mentioned above, but we must evolve with the Spirit-Within, the Will To Godhood, through the Outward Path to Godhood.

The Passage of Sacred Art

Art should be primarily ascending as well as secondarily descending. The Inward Path descends to the Soul, then the Outer Path ascends to the destination of the Spirit, not within but without as we evolve to God.

In the Outward Path of Positive Theology, in the Evolutionary Christian Church, the sacred passage moves from the “Essence” to “Form,” whereas the Negative Theology of Traditionalism moves only in the Inward Path from Form to Essence and then is stopped, by the Great Spiritual Blockade.

Sacred Art is defined by the word made flesh of the Outward Path while being informed by the flesh made word of the Inward Path.

God and the awareness of God

A monk asks: "Is there anything more miraculous than the wonders of nature?" The master answers: "Yes, your awareness of the wonders of nature." -Buddhist saying (from World Wisdom)

This saying points to the difference in the Inner and Outer Paths of the Evolutionary Christian Church (ECC) from Traditional wisdom. Traditional religion in affect defines the object as not as important as the thought of the object, and goes on to declare God as not at all an object in the material sense, and indeed in affect settles for a final definition of God rather than an Object God. In ECC God is an Object at the Zenith of Evolution in the Kosmos. The Inner Path in ECC relates to the Traditional inner idea of God yet never is defined exclusively as God but as the Soul or Spirit or God Within.

What is truth then?

“What is truth then? A mobile army of metaphors, metonomies, anthropomorphisms, in short a sum of human relations that are elevated, transmitted, beautified in a poetic or rhetoric manner, and that appear to the people after a long usage as fixed, canonical and binding: truths are illusions of which one has forgotten they are illusions, metaphors that are worn out and literally became powerless, coins that lost their images and are now metal and no longer coins.” (On Truth and Lie in the Extramoral Sense) Nietzsche

This quote shows why Nietzsche was the father of Postmodern philosophy. Nietzsche is here speaking not of truths, as he suggests, but of metaphors, metonomies and anthropomorphisms. Truths are seen in reconciling the forms of wisdom in the Primordial Tradition, from Hyperborea to the Hindus, from Zoroastrians to Plato, Aristotle, the Christian Fathers, the Classical philosophers, Chinese philosophy, the Renaissance, the Kabbalah of Judaism, occult philosophy, Islam, and now modern science. Truths are seen in the deeper unity of these forms of wisdom, which is not syncretism. This is the unity now found in uniting the Involutionary Inward Path with the Evolutionary Outward Path of material/supermaterial evolution to Godhood. These Two Paths unite modern science and Primordial Tradition in theological materialism and the Revitalized-Conservatism of the Evolutionary Christian Church. Yet Perfect Truth, Perfect Beauty and Perfect Goodness define Godhood, as wisdom traditions teach, and we will not define Perfect Truth correctly until we evolve from the material to supermaterial Godhood.

Why we are not revolutionary

Revolutionaries (religious or political) say that a civilization has to fall before the hoped for civilization can rise again, as something new. We do not say this. The Outward Path of evolution is infused and informed with the Traditional Inward Path of the Soul Within. This is Conservative, or the ethos of a Revitalized-Conservatism.

The Supreme Object of Positive Theology

The material object is real and only described by the symbolic, formless, spiritual definition of the object (toward epistemology)

The Father is Ultimate Truth Who “describes” but does not literally describe Ultimate Reality, and this Ultimate Reality is the Trinity, which includes Perfect Truth as a description of the Highest Reality. The Highest Reality symbolically described is Perfect Beauty (the Son) and Perfect Goodness (Holy Spirit) Who are a real existing object attained called the Trinity, the Highest Object in the Kosmos, the Zenith of Evolution in the Kosmos.

The Trinity is a Generating Object and not merely a generating principle which is the Father or Ultimate Truth. The Father is indeed Formless, but is “circumscribed” by His definition of the Trinity. The “One” of Plotinus is not the Trinity and is not the whole of God but is the Father, or Perfect Truth. The One must include the Highest Object which is the Trinity.

Positive Theology defines a multiplicity of evolving objects. Life is evolving objects, born and evolved from the Primary Materia. “Negative Theology” comes from centering on the Father and tends to speak only of what God is not, overlooking the concept that the Father is not an “object” but is Perfect Truth describing the Supreme Object. Negative Theology tends to make one eventually define God as essentially Nothing. Indian mysticism reflects Negative Theology going back to the earliest sacred works. Other religions followed.

God is the Supreme Object of evolution for all lower realities, but the object is not “merely” Perfect Truth (the Father) freed from all object limitation. Perfect Truth is “only” symbolic definition, the Supreme Object is the Trinity, the Highest Object in the evolving Kosmos. Yet Perfect Truth has the High Power of the Trinity and is yet to be understood by mankind. And we have yet to understand what could be the “spiritual atoms,” or God Atoms of the Supreme Object.

Now it happens that the Revealed Religions going back to Primordial Tradition began mistakenly describing the Soul or Spirit Within, or the Perfect Truth, as God; they were not describing the Real Object God, Who is the Trinity, they were seeing “only” the Soul Within. “God is more minute than the minutest, but in whom is the entire universe and all beings, is the imperishable Brahman—God; he is the life force...” Mundakopanishad 2.2.2.

Centering on the Soul Within is defined in the Evolutionary Christian Church as the sacred Involutionary Inward Path. The Inward Path is not object-oriented or materially-oriented, it is spiritually oriented. The better one sees the Soul Within the more blissful is the experience, often described as Supreme Consciousness, or even as Godhood. Alas, it is here with the Inward Path that the Great Spiritual Blockade began, which tragically separated spiritual ends from material means, the object from the definition of the object, and this helped block material objects from evolving to the Highest Object in the Kosmos, which is the Trinity, Godhood.

The return of the world to God means following the Evolutionary Outward Path which evolves material life to God. The Inner Path of the Soul is the closest we can come to God at this level of evolution. We can be instructed and infused with Truths from the Soul Within, which can discern the Spirit, as seen and examined since ancient times by spiritual masters, but we must not mistake the Zenith of the Mind or Perfect Truth Within for God, just as we must not mistake the symbolic description of Perfect Truth of the Father with the Supreme Object of the Trinity.

Let us evolve to Godhood, seeking the Supreme Object of Positive Theology, by applying both the Inward and Outward Paths.

Fulfilling ancient symbolism

As  the Theoevolutionary Church seeks to bring the Involutionary Inward Path into the Evolutionary Outward Path, and vice versa, we are seeking the ancient hope of a reconciliation between the material (temporal) and the spiritual, between priests and builders, Church and state.

At least in legend something like this has been tried before, in the building of Solomon's Temple, with a spiritual plan executed by material means, the spiritual plan of Solomon and the material work of Hiram. But both sides fought for their own ends. Thus we have the Kosmic feud between life and death, evolution and anti-evolution, generation and degeneration, material and spiritual.

Now in the rivalry, the temporal powers have utterly rejected the spiritual powers and vice versa. When the temporal plan refuses to follow the spiritual plan, or the spiritual follow the temporal means, then, if the Temple is built at all, the Temple is built in error.

Why have the religions deprived themselves of evolution? To stop evolving to God is an anomaly in nature. In doing so both have repudiated the authority of God. The Theoevolutionary Church and the Priests of the Outward Path once again seek to fuse the inner and outer worlds, to make a new “hammer” and a new “word” to regenerate the ancient goal, the evolution of the material to the spiritual and to Godhood.

Our attitude toward the Renaissance

The Renaissance was the time when the Church began to open up to the history of other religions, as well as to science. For example, the Medici's seem to have been patrons of the Kabbalist Christian occult, which was in effect, an opening to the East, the Zoroastrian-Hindu East, which influenced both Orthodox Judaism and Christianity.

This ecumenical dialog has been closed or hampered by pre-Renaissance-oriented thinkers, singling their own religions out as the exclusive way. These religious thinkers have tended to reject the Primordial Tradition existing in all religions, but this is precisely why we affirm them. And we continue the ecumenical ethos of the Renaissance by affirming modern science in our Evolutionary Outward Path to Godhood.

Adapting Object-oriented philosophy?

Reason in “Object-oriented philosophy” is described by Levi Bryant of Larval Subjects as “to search for one or more actual entities.” “The Ontic Principle” is: “there is no difference that does not make a difference.” The “ontic” is “the domain of entities or beings, as opposed to the ontological which deals with being qua being or what can be said of being independent of any reference to specific objects,” and “there is no entity where there is no act-uality.” In describing the Ontic Principle, Byrant says “there can be no being that is not act-ual. Consequently, I banish any entity that does not act or produce a difference. A purely possible or potential entity is, under this model, no entity at all.”


The Perfect Truth of Godhood is the material/supermaterial goal of evolution in the cosmos, and Godhood in this sense is the evolutionary zenith of Perfect Beauty, Perfect Goodness, Perfect Intelligence, etc. as well as the goal of the evolution of life in the cosmos. Perfect Truth in this sense is the highest possible material-to-supermaterial-material evolution.

Godhood is a Real Object, or Objects, also with an Object God's High Mind.

Spiritual as Material?

We have heard the question what if the material is not material but is fundamentally spiritual? We turn this around and ask what if the spiritual is fundamentally material? These are two of the same thing, but the approach to them is important. The Involutionary Inward Path of Traditional religion has virtually hated the material world and so prefers the spiritual side of this picture, and science until recently with modern physics (at least somewhat) has denied the spiritual. When the Spirit Within is seen not as God but as the “seed” of the Kosmic Beginning, then no real separation need be expressed. The Spirit Within helps or activates life to evolve materially-spiritually to Godhood. And God is the zenith of material-spiritual evolution in the Kosmos. We need both the Inward Path to the Spirit and the Outward Path to God.

The Gospel of Thomas

The Gospel of Thomas was discovered in 1945 at Nag Hammadi. Scholars have proposed a date as early as 60 AD or as late as 140 AD for this texts, depending upon whether the Gospel of Thomas is identified with the original core of sayings, or with the author's published text, or with the Greek or Coptic texts, or with parallels in other literature. The Gospel of Thomas is a vital connection between Eastern and Western religions showing their deep similarities. We accept this important work as a bridge between the East and the West. We suggest that the East, which has spiritual teachings older than Western spiritual teachings, validates the Gospel of Thomas more directly than any other Gospel, perhaps without having had direct knowledge of this Gospel. The New Testament is made clearer by the Gospel of Thomas.

For Thomas, speaking of Jesus, there are only two realms of existence: the material realm and the spiritual realm. The spiritual realm is a blissful reality of goodness, life, and light; it is the Kingdom of the Father. The material realm is a reality of evil, death, and darkness. Enlightenment comes in much the same way as the Eastern religions offer enlightenment, through the deepest one-pointed contact with the Spirit Within, which is God.

The Evolutionary Christian Church  has initiated the Evolutionary Outward Path, to attain through material-spiritual evolution, the God of the Involutionary Inward Path, seen in the Eastern Tradition, and in the Gospel of Thomas, and in the New Testament Gospels, and by Jesus Christ. We Open The Floodway after the Great Spiritual Blockade of the Involutionary Inward Path, which should be seen as only the Second Path way to the inward God or Spirit, and not the First Path outward way of bio-spiritual evolution to Godhood .

Paleolithic Diet

"The Paleolithic Diet is based on eating foods that our Paleolithic ancestors ate. The "Paleolithic" refers to the Paleolithic Era, which is a formal time period on Geologic Time Charts from about 2,500,000 years ago to about 10,000 years ago. The premise is that during the Paleolithic, we evolved a specific genome that has only changed 0.01 per cent in these last 10,000 years. However, during this recent time span mass agriculture, grains/grain products, sugars/sugar products, dairy/dairy products, and a plethora of processed foods have all been introduced as a regular part of the human diet. We are not eating the foods we are genetically and physiologically adapted to eat (99.9% of our genetic profile is still Paleolithic); and the discordance is an underlying cause for much of the "diseases of civilization", "syndrome X", obesity, and  "diseases of old age" that are so epidemic in our society today.

As Dr. Cordain and others' scientific research reveal - the evolutionary, genetic, and clinical evidence point to a natural (i.e., unprocessed foods), omnivorous diet as the healthiest way to eat. Dr. Cordain's research shows that 70% of the average caloric intake of Americans is from foods that did not even exist for our Paleolithic ancestors. This discordance is having tremendously negative health consequences for our society as a whole.

Our genes determine our optimum diet, and our genes evolved according to the environments in which our ancient ancestors lived, including the foods they ate. Our Paleolithic ancestors did not eat just one single diet, but rather they ate within a range of natural, unprocessed diets - depending on variables like geography, climate, competition, ecologic niche, season, and glaciations. All of these Paleolithic diets did share some universal characteristics, though:

The most obvious plant food missing is grains and grain products. ·Wild terrestrial animals (including the muscle tissue, fat and organs, although the total amount of fat and the fatty acid composition were quite different than that found in modern domestic animals).

The problem with the above quote is that it speaks only of the Involutionary Inward Path and dismisses or is unaware of the Evolutionary Outward Path, where true Godhood is reached through the evolution of the material to the material-spiritual.

Defining our blog title

“Civilizing The Beast” is attempting to flow with the order and justice of the Kosmos, which is administered by God, where Creation and Destruction occur but also Preservation, and with immortal Preservation for the virtuous victors in evolving to the God first seen within. The “Beast” in this sense is the disorder and injustice and entropy not flowing with the order and justice of the Kosmos. Satan is defined in this zone; everything, including the devils, are within the Kosmos beneath God, the forces of darkness are a part of the flow or backflow of the Kosmos. For humans the great difficulty has been to understand the order and justice of God.

Spiritualizinig evolution and nature

The Evolutionary Christian Church has spiritualized evolution and nature, whereas Western religion tends to detach man from nature, rejecting the material. It is through material evolution we reach God; EC does not reject the Inward Path of the Soul Within, as old Tradition rejected the material Outward Path to God, and as the secular world rejected the spiritual world; we include both.

How Promethean art is affirmed

Preliminary thoughts on sacred art

The proposed sacred art of the Theoevolutionary Church (TC) is Promethean, related to the Outward Path, which places it on another plane from the exclusively Inward Art of Traditional sacred art. The Promethean, Outward Path art of TC is informed and infused with the Inward Path of spirituality, but it affirms the material by making sacred evolution and nature.

This means less rejecting of Western art and Classicism than the art philosophy of the East, which, at its essence, rejects the Promethean because it rejects materialism. Frithjof Schuon, for example, finds ancient Eastern sacred art far greater than Western art, based on his general rejection of the “materialism” of the Promethean.

The difference between the Promethean in TC, and the Promethean in modern Western art, is that the “original” and “creative” are informed by scared evolution in the Outward Path, whereas modern Western art is only creative and original in the secular and human sense, generally rejecting religion entirely.

Traditional spirituality rejects materialism, Western secular materialism rejects spiritualism, in TC material evolution moves nature toward Godhood, inspired by the Activation Within (Tirips). The theology and projected art of the Theoevolutionary Church reflect this synthesis.

The Maya of Union

Dazzled by the Soul of The Body

Union between the “I” and God is not really union with God, it is union with the Soul, which is certainly blissful, since all desires are blocked, yet it is not God. To truly unite with God, the Spirit Within, which is also not God, must help activate the “I” (body), or the Soul, to evolve all the way to God, that is, the material evolves to the supermaterial, the material-spiritual evolves to God. Making an error here leads to the Great Spiritual Blockade.

It is a great achievement to attain union with the Soul Within, and this is the goal of the Involutionary Inward Path of the Theoevolutionary Church. “Yoga” is the eastern term for this union, expressed by Jesus when he said, “I and my Father are one, “ (John 10.30) and in Mandukyopanishad 3.2.9. “The embodied spirit is God.” But to reach Godhood the Evolutionary Outward Path of the Theoevolutionary Church needs to be followed. We must not be dazzled by the Soul into blocking the evolution of the Spirit-Will to God.

Duality is usually called Maya, illusion, in the East, but the experience of union or nonduality is also due to the noumena of Maya. This can be called the Maya of Union.

"The 2007–2008 financial crisis had its genesis in the United States housing markets, but it rapidly spread to other economies, first to the United Kingdom, but then almost everywhere else, including such unlikely spots as Iceland whose banking system collapsed.[1] Because events in the United States triggered the crisis, this essay will concentrate on the US causes although they had their many counterparts elsewhere.

There are at least three long-standing background influences that contributed to the financial debacle that dominated the US economy in 2008:

1. For almost 100 years, the US government has not felt constrained to match its expenditure with its revenue. This policy was given intellectual justification by the writings of John Maynard Keynes who argued in the 1930s that, during periods of slow economic growth, active and purposeful government policies would allow the economy to spend its way out of recession.[2] It was simply a matter of time before citizens aped the financial habits of their governments by living beyond their means.

2. The Federal Reserve System (the Fed — created in 1913) has accommodated government's policy of spending to excess by inflating the money supply and keeping interest rates artificially low. Today's dollar will buy what in 1913 would cost less than a nickel. This easy-money policy has not only led to inflation but has resulted in investments taking place that would not be justified had the money supply been constrained, and had interest rates more clearly reflected economic reality.

3. Since the 1960s, politicians parroting the suspect theories of Keynes have fed the public's naïve belief that government can provide ever-increasing living standards by means of its monetary and fiscal policies. Pulling a fiscal lever here and pushing a monetary button there meant that constraints on spending were old fashioned, and living standards would forever improve. The limitations imposed by the laws of economics had been repealed if you voted for politicians who promised to provide you with something for nothing. Fiscal prudence was simply a capitalist lie..."

Where Are The Western Leaders?

Religions or political philosophies which claim to be more noble (Aryan) or chosen (Jewish) must be condemned as damaging to human harmony and the survival of variety.

Hierarchy is natural within groups or nations, as it is in the animal world, but hierarchy is not helpful or successful between races and nations. Imperialism is a negative development of racial supremacy and hierarchy between states. Each race should naturally have its own state, or ethnostate, and each state should be respected in a balance of power among states. There is also a solid basis for harmony among Christians, Jews and Muslims since they all worship the same God of the Inward Path.

Powerful negative forces keep the Western leaders from speaking out and demanding a cease fire between Israel and Palestine, and a two state solution.

Half The Great Truth

The Great Spiritual Blockade

The noble figures of Christ and Buddha in art are said to show us “that which is” and that which “should be” or that which we “are,” (Frithjof Schuon) but these sacred works are only half the picture. These are the noble symbols of the Involutionary Inward Path, the icons of the Soul Within. Yet here is where the tragic error takes place.

Settling for half the great truth has led to the debasement of the entire material world, but more tragically, it has been blocking our evolution to God with a Great Spiritual Blockade.

The “holy sleep” reverently displayed in the images of the Buddha are indeed sleep, and are truly what Shankara called “ the stilling of mental agitation and the supreme appeasement.” Here is a quote from Sri Ramakrishna: "The world is impermanent. One should constantly remember death."

The Inward Path of Christ, Buddha and the Primordial Tradition, needs to be fulfilled in the Outward Path that leads evolution to Godhood. Together both paths, the Twofold Path, define the religious order of the Theoevolutionary Church, which is a remanifestation of manifested religions.

Faith, Intuition, Reason

Faith devours doubt, but truth is found by intuition (faith) and reason.

Diverting consciousness is not raising consciousness

Consciousness is not “raised” when concentrating on God with single-pointedness, consciousness is diverted from the things of this world, and these are two different things. When one force is blocked another tends to move with more force. The mind does not really rise above the sensory level when experiencing the Soul-Within, we experience God while in our bodies. The Spirit lies within the body but the Zenith of the body is defined as essentially the Soul. When in one-pointedness and when we experience the Soul Within we are experiencing the Soul within the Mind-Soul-Body. The Soul Within wishes to evolve to God and does so through the activation of the Spirit-Within, which primarily wishes to evolve to God.

"NAFTA: An Unprecedented Experiment Gone Wrong"

"NAFTA has made American manufacturing uncompetitive and has caused a large amount of our production facilities to move out of the country. We were promised widespread job creation, it never materialized.

NAFTA's 900 page agreement was a radical experiment that had never before been undertaken. In essence, NAFTA granted foreign investors a new set of privileges allowing them to promote manufacturing to take advantage of Mexico's lower wages, and lower cost of doing business. We loaned Mexico $20 billion to build their nation up, so we would have a country to export our goods to.

Americans were told the Mexican economy would be transformed from the ranks of a developing nation into an economic powerhouse. The growing Mexican economy was supposed to prop up the U.S. by increasing our trade surplus and creating hundreds of thousands of American jobs.

Fourteen years later, NAFTA's idealistic promises have yet to come to fruition. Instead, thousands of our factories have closed up and moved to Mexico to take advantage of their slave labor wages destroying our manufacturing base and slashing American jobs. Since 1993, manufacturing employment in the U.S. has decreased from 16.8 million to 13.9 million. NAFTA has clearly not delivered on the promise of widespread job creation.

Similarly, Mexico did not become a world player buying up American exports. Instead our trade surplus with Mexico deteriorated into a 91 billion deficit and the combined deficit with Canada and Mexico has increased to $190 billion.

NAFTA proponents blindly led the American public into a disastrous experiment that has clearly gone awry. If NATFA is not changed or canceled quickly the only place your children will find a job will be working for a foreign owned company, as all of our companies are moving out of the country.

While campaigning President-elect Barack Obama clamored for "fair trade" over "free trade." Americans need to hold him accountable to his campaign rhetoric by signing the renegotiate NAFTA petition, which urges President-elect Obama to begin renegotiating NAFTA immediately after taking office..."

The Ongoing Establishment

It seems that President Bush began with good instincts, (or he was a better actor than we gave him credit for) with a tendency toward rejecting the Liberal Internationalism of the Establishment, which is the ongoing almost amorphous process of using anything that arises to help the drift toward the goal of world governance. But Bush was fairly easily co opted by Neoconservatives, who are really promoting another version of liberal internationalism. Nixon had fought against this same liberal internationalism of the east coast (by promoting a balance of powers) and was probably brought down as a consequence of his courage.

Democrats generally aid this process, but Republicans are often co opted, as happened with President Bush, and perhaps Reagan to a lesser extent. Now President Elect Obama fits right into the slot preferred by the Liberal International Establishment, and we can expect the Establishment to have an easy time with him, aided by the U.N., the Council On Foreign Relations, etc.

Some of the forces fighting against the Establishment at this time, with varying degrees of success, are the Paleoconservatives, libertarians, the New Right in Europe, Eurasianism, and some versions of Islam.

The Mystery Appears Twofold But Is One

The Mystery in the Evolutionary Christian Church is Twofold, founded in God becoming man, through the Traditional Inward Path of attaining the Kingdom of God Within, but also in the Mystery of man becoming God through the Outward Path of material evolution to God. Since the God Within is the seed or mind of the God Without, the Mystery is really One.

Paganism, Monotheism, and the Theoevolutionary Church

Bringing ancient power back to religion

In very basic terms, Paganism gave power to the tribe, that is, successful survival and reproduction, eros, sacred power acquired for the tribe from objects, trees, etc. via shaministic actions. This was one of the first developments of religion.

When paganism discovered conscious ethical behavior it was also applied to the advancing tribe, and sometimes applied to all tribes. Monotheism developed, synthesizing the One power into paganism, the power of individual trees etc. as the same One power in all things, which was now seen as demanding certain ethical behavior to be in harmony with that One power.

But over time monotheism became ethical rationalism and far removed from the spirit within the trees, and religion lost much of its power. Western science grew out of this rationalism, and eventually science developed the theory of evolution.

The New Age movement can be seen as an attempt to bring back the ancient power of the spirit of the trees, however a mistake was often made by rejecting or leaving out monotheist ethics and applying only eros, the spirit of the trees.

The Theoevolutionary Church brings religion up to the next level in synthesizing science and evolution while also bringing religion back to the ancient spirit within the trees and within man. We see the One spirit activating life to evolve to Godhood. The evolutionary science of Beyondism is applied to monotheism, bringing ethics back to the spirit. In order to successfully survive and evolve to God certain ethical behavior is required which need not conflict with monotheism.

Paganism saw the spirit within various objects. Old monotheism saw the One Inward God within all things and taught us how to know that God. The Theoevolutionary Church affirms the Outward God attained through evolution as well as the Inward God of Traditional Christianity. We bring the spirit of God and nature back together in religion.

This describes our conservative, or reformconservative approach, including the past while advancing the future, not rejecting the past as revolutionaries do, and not rejecting the future as traditionalist do.

Seeing the material in the spiritual

The great error was in defining “purity” as without materiality. What has not been seen has been defined as unpure or even evil. “Spiritual atoms” are like unseen material atoms.

The God-Within is not all of God, as has been universally reported. The God-Within is only an aspect of the seed or mind of God.

God is not only Supreme Consciousness, God is Supreme Materiality as well.

The Inward God evolves to the Outward God.

It has been said that we must “overcome” the “limitations” of our bodies to see God but this is because we do not yet have the body of God, which we must evolve to.

Suggested Solutions to America's Economic Problems

The following suggestions should be considered as part of a new plan to recover American industry and economic health:

• Appoint an economic minister, a major cabinet post, to develop an industrial policy that would:
1. Create conditions to make manufacturing competitive and profitable through tax changes and subsidies where needed

2. Protect our economy from foreign predatory practices

3. Create an industrial research and development division similar to government sponsored National Institute of Health (NIH) in medicine or the Apollo project.

Or, copy Japan's very successful system conducted by their Ministry of International Trade & Industry (MITI) that focuses on needs and development procedures for their new and existing industries.

• Change the tax structure for select industries that are vital to strategic American interests - steel, transportation, cement and others.

• Amend or get out of our agreement with the WTO. It places our domestic trade laws in the hands of an undemocratic organization whose decisions have been consistently and unfairly adjudicated.

• Eliminate the out dated Value Added Tax (VAT) agreement. It unjustifiably subsidizes foreign exports to us, while simultaneously penalizing our exports to them.

• Amend or get out of NAFTA. It incentivizes our companies to move productive facilities out of our country.

• We must analyze every international trade deal by considering if it benefits America; currently most deals do not.

• Use tariffs selectively to prevent the loss of strategic and endangered industries.

• Curtail subsidies foreign owned companies receive from state governments and discourage technology transfer and outsourcing manufacturing that results in the loss of industries.

• Prevent the sale of strategic companies or institutions to foreign ownership.

• Faster depreciation on capital equipment investment - it will lessen the need to outsource manufacturing.

• Control the balance of trade deficit. This is the means through which foreign companies are able to accumulate funds to purchase our best companies.

Free trade has been a disaster. It must be replaced with intelligent trade that prevents foreign predatory practices and better serves U.S. interests.

OTHER SUGGESTIONS AND THINGS TO CONSIDER:

• We must strive to become competitive; otherwise America must exist on imports with more debt,

• American owned companies have lost their edge and, on balance, are not as productive or as protective as many other foreign companies. This must be corrected.

• It must be profitable to manufacture in America otherwise domestic companies will outsource their manufacturing.

• America is losing a major economics war by relinquishing management and control of the economy through effects of our balance of trade deficit, outsourcing, subsidized insourcing and foreign tax benefits.

• Consider the consequences of losing whole industries such as publishing, autos, movies, steel, electronics, clothing and how it impacts national security and living standards.

• We need to analyze and correct:
1. Negative effects of WTO rules and decisions regarding their impact on our economy.

2. Violations of WTO rules practiced by other countries to our detriment

3. Restrictions imposed by foreign governments on American exporting companies.

Americans have been defeated in an economics war with consequences as meaningful and damaging as if having lost a military war. Strangely, the citizens do not feel the pain and economic destruction to the same extent as a perilous military defeat. Americans are oblivious to how this defeat happened and how it is affecting them, going about their merry way, living well in passive and painless submission, on borrowed money and cheap imports from China and Japan.

China and Japan each operate their economies as one huge business that is done first-and-foremost for the best interest of their countries. Functioning with a unique, effective and a most-creative system of guided and managed capitalism, their economies are set up to destroy any competitive economy that stands in their way.

Each nation may have a handful of rich entrepreneurs, but no one makes money at the expense or the well-being of their country. The economies of China and Japan are planned, guided and nurtured where necessary, with defined goals – for the benefit of their countries.

Witness Japan. From the ashes of the bombings in 1945, to today, after 63 years, Japan is now one of the world’s most productive nations. The country has accomplished this feat with only 4 percent of America’s land mass, 40 percent of America’s total population and no natural resources. With far less people, land and resources, Japan has an $80 billion yearly balance-of-trade surplus with the U.S. It has the second largest current account surplus next to China and has accumulated $1.2 trillion during the last 20 years while currently lending America $517.2 billion. Per capita, Japan now outproduces all other nations while paying the world’s highest wages.

Americans should take note of Japan’s ability to rise from a tattered-and-torn nation, with a third-world country status, to one of the world’s most powerful countries. China and Japan operate their economies in a war-like fashion to destroy their competitors, strategically backing Americans into an increasingly impossible corner. These countries have now become America’s foremost bankers, which gives them leveraged advantage as our fiercest competitors. The U.S. cannot compete with these two global competitors, China and Japan.

It is impossible for Americans to compete with next-to-nothing Chinese wage rates, coupled with China's excellent technology. Japan demonstrates unparalleled strength through its superior capital and knowledge intensive manufacturing sector. Both nations have completely knocked the U.S. out of many of the industries the U.S. originally founded.

America’s TV manufacturing industry is 100 percent foreign owned, the sound recording industry is 97 percent foreign owned, and the motion picture industry is 75 percent foreign owned, with Japan controlling many of these individual companies. Foreigners own 79 percent of the commodity, contracts, dealings and brokerage business.

Nations that finance our foreign debt and export numerous products to the U.S. are building large currency reserves from their balance of trade surpluses: Arab countries have $3 trillion, China has $1.8 trillion and Japan has amassed $1 trillion. These currency reserves are economic bullets poised to strike and take out any American company.

All U.S. companies are for sale on the open stock market. We could not, in our "free trade" economy, prevent the takeover of U.S. companies. Having so many "economic bullets," foreign entities came in and obliterated American ownership of our companies. These were the companies (16,613 of them sold to foreign interests in the last 30 years) that formerly generated wealth and strength for our country; the means by which we became the world’s richest and strongest country with the highest standard of living.

Chinese and Japanese companies are not for sale. They understand their companies are the wealth generators, representing the best interests of the entire nation. American industries no longer benefit the people; they benefit a select few billionaires, millionaires and stock holders. These individuals are not concerned about the welfare of the country, only their own, often to the detriment of the country.

It is from the Chinese and Japanese business models that America must mold itself. Companies should not benefit a select few, but should enrich and empower the country as a whole. When America realizes this, businesses will not be bought-up, but industry primarily will remain domestic. This must occur to stop dependence on foreign capital and imports. We must modify our system to prevent takeover and predatory practices by foreign competitors, putting protective measures in place as most other countries have done. This will protect us and allow us to become productive, competitive and economically independent. If this is not immediately implemented, we must resign ourselves as a defeated and conquered nation. Living as a foreign owned colony, controlled and managed by foreign interests for their benefit, and we as their subjects."

Traditional Law and Evolutionary Law

In the Evolutionary Christian Church the Inward Path follows the Traditional Law (TL) of involutionary Christianity, and has changed little. The Outward Path follows Evolutionary Law (EL). TL attempts to understand God's laws from within, EL attempts to understand God's laws from without. The material evolves to the spiritual, but first it involves to the spiritual within. Science tends to help us discern EL, and religion tends to help us discern TL, although both work together.

Two Necessary Paths To See And Attain Godhood

“Truthfulness is from God” (Mundakopanishad 2.1.7.)

“Thou shalt not bear false witness” (Matt. 19.18)

The Inward Path to God is extremely difficult to attain, which helps explain why so few people attain the Supreme Spiritual State. In Traditional religions the Inward Path excludes the Evolutionary Outward Path to God. Material life is rejected, or at least regarded with complete disinterest in attaining the Supreme State.

In his book “Jesus Christ and Yoga,” S. S. Goswami describes how all the great yogins attained the Supreme Spirit inwardly through spiritual knowledge combined with sexual continence. Jesus Christ taught that worldly persons marry but those living a spiritual life, that is, those who spiritualize their minds, desires and thoughts are without sexual desire. “...There be eunuchs which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.” (Matt. 19. 9-12) And in Luke 20, 34-6, Jesus promised those who did so, “Neither can they die any more, for they are equal unto angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.”

The Theoevolutionary Church teaches that it is vital not to stop the Path to Godhood with the realization of the Inward Soul or Father Within, blissful and true as it is, because this leads to The Great Spiritual Blockade of the Evolutionary Outward Path to Godhood, which requires sacred, evolutionary, survival and reproduction. The material world has been grossly neglected and sinned against. Unlike the exclusively inward teachers, we do not reject the Evolutionary Outward Path to Godhood, but we also uniquely do not reject the Involutionary Inward Path to the Soul Within. Both Paths, the Involutionary Inward and the Evolutionary Outward are necessary, first to see the Soul within, and then to outwardly evolve to Godhood, activated by the Spirit-Will.

The "Holy Spirit" is in theological materialism the material/supermaterial Spirit-Will-To-Godhood, which activates life to evolve toward Godhood.

Loving your enemies as a conditional elaboration of abstention

When Jesus says (Luke 6) “...him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also,” this is easier to understand when one has no interest whatsoever in the coat. And when Jesus says (Mark 7) “...that which cometh out of man, that defileth the man,” this is spoken from the perspective of the Inward Path where all sensual and material thoughts are blocked so that one may see God within. When Krishna says “...The divine qualities lead to liberation, whereas the demoniac qualities cause bondage,” (Bhagawadgita 16.5) this too is understood as knowing God by blocking out the material world through the Inward Path. These spiritual qualities are an elaboration of abstention. When the material mind and body are controlled and blocked spiritually the thoughts and actions of other men do not affect man. However, material nature is not demoniac nature, the spiritual life need not define material life as evil, and material life need not define the spiritual life as evil, as the atheists tend to do.

The Theoevolutionary Church distinguishes the Involutionary Inward Path from the Evolutionary Outward Path by attaching the Gnostic perspective of Revealed Religions to the Inward Path, which sees God within, and by attaching material evolution to the Outward Path, of evolving to God. It is relatively easier to love your enemies when applying the Inward Path, where material life is blocked and devalued so that one may see God within, whereas the competitions and challenges of material life and evolution to Godhood are better managed through the Outward Path, which can be guided by the Church, ie. the new order of renewal of the Theoevolutionary Church.

Dissatisfaction is growing, and at the moment it is only being held back by the elections and the hope that Obama can work miracles. But by spring, it will be clear that there are no miracles."

He also cited the "vulnerable political setup", "lack of unified national laws", and "divisions among the elite, which have become clear in these crisis conditions."

He predicted that the U.S. will break up into six parts - the Pacific coast, with its growing Chinese population; the South, with its Hispanics; Texas, where independence movements are on the rise; the Atlantic coast, with its distinct and separate mentality; five of the poorer central states with their large Native American populations; and the northern states, where the influence from Canada is strong”...


We say if the States were given the true independence legally offered them by the Constitution of the United States there would be far less need of a breakup. This is the preferred, practical, Conservative, light-federal direction we affirm. But if this is not our future than the Russian prediction is quite possible. The other possibility is a large, tyranical, police State, from the left or the right.

The real problem with “anthropolatry”

The problem with using the term “anthropolatry,” which is used by Frithjof Schuon mainly to disparage materiality, is not that this term defines it as wrong to worship material man, rather than worshiping the spiritual exclusively---the problem comes from not seeing man as a bridge to the superman and beyond to Godhood. This minimalism stems from the general problem of Gnosticism and Revealed Religions, which have little or no interest in material evolution because they see God mainly inwardly, not as an object, which is only one aspect of God, and they do not see God as the Divine Spirit, and Form, which we must evolve to.

Ecumenical Involution And Beyondist Evolution In the Theoevolutionary Church

We see no reason to avoid the ecumenical approach to Revealed Religions, Christianity, Ancient Greek philosophy, Buddhism, Bahai Faith, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Taoism, Odinism, etc., as they reveal variations of the Perennial Religion and the Involutionary Inward Path. There has been Perennial Knowledge of this Tradition since prehistory. As a dweller in the Western world our Involutionary Inward Path affirms Traditional Christianity and the revelations of Jesus Christ.

Yet the Involutionary Inward Path contains only half of the new religious order of renewal of the Theoevolutionary Church, we have also seen and affirmed the Evolutionary Outward Path to Godhood. A recent, brilliant, but ostracized, Darwinian version of the Evolutionary Outward Path was developed by Professor Raymond Cattell, called Beyondism, which has been adapted to the Perennial Tradition, or spiritualized, in the Theoevolutionary Church. Beyondism helps define the Path to Godhood, first seen inwardly (but apparently denied or ignored by Cattell's Beyondism) and then evolved to outwardly.

Traditional Christians who worry about the weakening aspects of ecumenicism can be heartened by our return to the most ancient Perennial Tradition, which was affirmed and enlarged by Jesus Christ. There need be no more religious wars regarding the Involutionary Perennial Religion. Also, religion has been dying in the West and could use strengthening.

The vital material aspect of the world has been largely blocked (see The Great Spiritual Blockade) by the exclusively Inward Path of the Gnostic traditionalist perspective. Here the Evolutionary Outward Path of the Theoevolutionary Church reintroduces change and even competition in the material world, as we must materially-spiritually evolve to the God we have first seen Inwardly. Such things as Federalism and Subsidiarity with small independent states, virtually ethnostates (which can work harmoniously with the original Constitution of the United States) and may provide the base for both the Inward and Outward Paths to Godhood, the Divine Twin Paths, guided by the Church.

Answering Lovecraft's fear

H.P. Lovecraft, author of modern Gothic horror fiction, wrote at the beginning of one story, “The Call of Cthulhu,” “The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.”

Or, we will not, and we will rejoice in the revelation that science and religion come together in our evolution to the God we have first inwardly seen in religion. This becomes the sacred epic of the Kosmos connecting the distant future and the distant past, far more inspiring and invigorating than terrifying or frightful, if we have the courage to affirm the synthesis and the goal.

Immortalities

The Soul within is wrongly represented as remaining beyond the material field.  The Soul is at the zenith of the human  mind. The Soul helps guide the material field. Why? It guides or help guides the Spirit-Will and the material field to evolve to Godhood, which the Spirit within represents, and that is part of God, but not all of God.

It is a tragic mistake to therefore call the material world outside merely superficial or illusion and the Divine Spirit or the Soul within as only real; this is where The Great Spiritual Blockade takes place. Why must one be evil to make the other good? Perhaps it is too vulgar to compare this blockade to the drug addict who claims that nothing matters, that nothing is real outside the drug.

There are needs of the material world, of the flesh, that must not be ignored merely because of experiencing the bliss—however great-- of the Divine within. Not the the Soul or the Spirit within man should be mistaken for God, God must be evolved to, indeed man is activated by the Spirit-Will within and guided by the Soul to Godhood. All that we see on earth and in the Kosmos cannot be defined as merely useless material illusion, it is Life on its way to Godhood.

Resolving Dualism

Seeing the transcendent is not being the transcendent. The non dual nature experienced by saints and sages is not the God reached at the zenith of evolution, it is basking in the Soul of the body, which, with great effort, can be reached. (see The Great Spiritual Blockade )

When we jump in a lake we are not the lake, we are only experiencing the lake. We must not stop our evolution with merely swimming in the lake, blissful as that is, we must evolve to become, in this sense, the lake. This lake-experience of being in the presence of God is still dual but it is so overwhelming that we think we are non dual God.

We must not cast off the human body or the material world too soon as it is the stuff from which we evolve to the true God, which we see inwardly first.

The Evolutionary Christian Church sees the eternal in the temporal, the spiritual in the material and the divine in what is not yet divine. The evolution of the material to the "spiritual," which is really the highest form of the material, helps resolve the duality and disjunctions between science and religion and religious dualism in general.

There is room for Promethean man

There is room for Promethean man in the Evolutionary Christian Church (ECC). God may be perfect but the world is not. God initiated the world but the world needs to evolve to perfection .

If we adapt the thought of Aquinas regarding art, that the Traditional artist doesn't merely imitate nature but imitates “nature in her manner of operation,” we can say that evolution imitates nature in her manner of operation. Religion does this as well. ECC gives evolution a central place in religion. We evolve to God, the God we have seen from within.

To adapt or transpose another religious thinker, Frithjof Schuon, without science, without evolution, religion drives souls away from religion, they feel choked, their intelligence cannot breathe.

Reaching God is more than Platonic “remembrance” or recollection, as the Traditionalist suggest, this defines only the Involutionary Inward Path, this is one of two sacred paths to Godhood. The Outward Path reaches God through bio-spiritual evolution to God, the God first seen inwardly in the Soul Within.

What can be done?

Much depends on how we define the operation of natural law. Many wise men have spent their lives trying to define the order of nature, Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, Aquinas, Hegel, Darwin, Marx, Nock, Kirk, Wilson, etc.. One thing seems certain in history, big state power has been unable to do anything efficiently, economically, or honestly, it always sinks into corruption and waste.

Albert Nock wrote about how past empires all came to the end of the path that we began centuries ago: a steady move toward collectivism, with the state taking more and more of the national income, then there is a move toward military despotism, and finally the state has sucked all the life out of society and we are left with a dead machine.

Nock said we should leave it to work its own way out. Let the disorder be settled by the operation of natural laws, which are the same laws that Nock wanted governments to live by; that is, state intervention is always a cure worse than the disease. Any contravention of natural law must have its consequences.

A good government, that is, a government following the natural order, will make no positive interventions on the individual and the people, it will make only negative interventions in behalf of simple liberty, not law, but justice.

The present world is a good time to fortify ourselves with Greek and Latin studies, and religion, and dare we say, evolutionary science. Change happens slowly, indirectly, the attitude of mind toward big state rule will change over time. We will have our natural localism back. And we will eventually have the order of the Evolutionary Christian Church.

Post election question

Did the Constitution of the United States only function for the culture and the people who created it, and if so, in the “new America” which now virtually ignores the Constitution, what does this mean for those of us who support the Constitution?

A good economic system

Rachel's Hip Wedding

A review of the film "Rachel Getting Married"

The director, actors, and screenplay were excellent, you could not have a hipper wedding than this, with jazz-Indian-Caribbean-Black-Chinese music and food and the cool Connecticut mansion with the long green lawn and the dysfunctional family. No doubt many new brides and grooms will want to duplicate this hippest of weddings.

Here's the problem. You cannot replace sacred with hipness, even with this high level of hipness. What could be hipper than a Black groom singing a Neil Young song to a White bride during a secular marriage ceremony? Yet all the problems, and they were numerous—the drug addiction, divorced parents, the general overall hedonism—were directly and precisely the consequence of the rejection and abandonment of the sacred.

The only way to correct this tragedy is to return to the sacred, but this seems virtually impossible in the present world. What science-minded person, what truly hip person would want to return to religion? Do we wait for the hipness to fade, do we wait for the culture to fall? This we know. The sacred will return. But will it return in the form of the traditional sacred?

Science-rejecting, evolution-rejecting religion will be reformed by a deeper sacred which includes science and religion. Then, at last, the Rachels of the world can have a sacred traditional wedding, in a traditional sacred church, with a sacred traditional family attending. There will be human troubles, of course, but religion knows how to handle all the problems that hipness creates. Nothing else can.

Nightmare States

Nevertheless, there is a difference not just of degree but of kind between unemployment compensation for jobless workers, welfare for destitute families, and confiscating the income of taxpayers who earned it — to hand out to chronic tax consumers who did not.

This last is the socialism Winston Churchill called "the philosophy of envy and gospel of greed." And it is this suggestion of socialist ideology in Obama's words that has produced the belated pause by a nation that seemed to be moving into his camp. What did Barack say in 2001?

He spoke of the inadequacy of the courts as institutions to bring about "redistributive change" in society, of the "tragedy" of the civil rights movement in losing sight of the "political and organizing activities on the ground that are able to bring about the coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change."

Normal people don't talk like that. Socialists do.

This is ideology speaking. This is the redistributionist drivel one hears from cosseted college radicals and the "Marxist professors" Obama says in his memoir he sought out at the university. It is the language of social parasites like William Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn and Father Pfleger.

Enforced egalitarianism entails the death of excellence. For it seizes the rewards that excellence earns and turns them over to politicians and bureaucrats for distribution to the mediocrities upon whose votes they depend. One need not be Ayn Rand to see that Barack has picked up from past associates utopian notions that have ever produced nightmare states.”

Why I am voting for the Constitution Party

Obama no doubt absorbed the modern liberal ethos (read socialist) of the romantic 1960's at his mother's knee. Later the political philosophy of his grandparents, in any case, could not alter the modern liberal dominance of his education, which became more intensely socialist in college , law school and in organizing on the streets of Chicago, where Saul Alinsky's organizing philosophy prevailed, eg. join a church for the purpose of better organizing the people. No matter what his political rhetoric is disguising, Obama wants to use the state to institute equality of not only opportunity but equality of condition for everyone, and not only in America but in the world.

If McCain might once have believed that the state should not be used to legislate big social programs, the Neoconservatives have influenced him now to the degree that he promotes both military and big business global imperialism, even if he gives lip service to appointing conservative Supreme Court judges, or suggests more vague general freedom for Americans.

I am afraid that what may eventually happen in reaction to the coming pervasive state control of the Obama administration will be a fascists-like demand that the state be used, once again, to correct the abuses of the state under Obama, on behalf of those who have been virtually taxed and legislated out of existence. People always take the easiest path.

Since I don't approve of either socialist or fascist state power I choose to take the less easy path and support The Constitution Party, which historically and legally seeks to greatly limit state power, and give the people the most possible freedom and security. This seems to me to be both morally and scientifically the best path, given what we know of human nature.

Financial anticipation of an Obama presidency?

Here is a question I have not seen asked or answered: what percentage of the present financial fall is related to a negative anticipation of an Obama presidency?

Voting choices

The global Trotskyite lobby influences the Obama campaign, the global Neoconservative lobby influences the McCain campaign. In the long run the demographics of our nation will probably determine our destiny, and the fastest growing populations tend to be manipulated by the ideas of Trotsky or Marx rather than our Founding Fathers.

Will Pat Buchanan and the Paleos ever take back the Republican Party, or at least the Conservative wing? Meanwhile, The Constitutional Party seems to stand by the American Constitution.

The inner light parallels the outer light

Progress through spiritual inner states mirrors progress through outward material states. This seems to turn Plato upside down, saying that the material-out is equal to or surpassing the spiritual-in, but it is really not rejecting sacred evolution in nature.

Both the spiritual and material realms are vital, these need not be contradictory, in the same way that there can be both a geographical and symbolic homeland. One bolsters the other.

The inner light parallels the outer light. In deep meditation the individual can reach the place of the Soul's origin, which parallels the evolution to Godhood.

Involution and evolution for all races

We should be very clear, the Evolutionary Christian Church (ECC) is not racist, not anti-semitic, and not anti any race. People can be admonished for being anti-evolutionary. All people, all races need to evolve to Godhood. Our new religious order of renewal within Traditional Religion has included aspects of Cattell's evolutionary Beyondism within traditional involutionary Christianity and other world religions, which is not racist. We are helping to guide all people, all races, to Godhood, not only through the Traditional involutionary path of seeing the Soul within, but through the bio-spiritual path of evolving to God in the Kosmos. Equal access to evolution for all races is our calling.

The Next Aristocracy

The Obama administration may soon establish itself as the next “aristocracy” in the hoodwinking noiseless revolution that Albert Nock described. In the past a gang of fierce men would force themselves on an unwilling people and establish a state. Now the people voluntarily surrender their own social power and freedom to the state, which they hope will then redistribute their wealth and social power better than they could themselves. The state never gives back what it takes, the state only very slowly rots away, as the Roman Empire did. Perhaps when it rots enough then we can reestablish the American Constitution.

Only Slight Adjustments Of The Same Politics

Once again McCain and Obama will merely modify the same established institution. We have long ago become conditioned to state power over the social power of the people, as Albert Nock and others pointed out many years ago, before and after the last depression. Neither candidate objected to the recent Coup d' Etat of the state over the banks because it was only more, much more, of the same.

Obama, with his socialist mentality, wants to use state power to exploit the wealthier classes in the name of the poorer classes, thinking the state—that is, he and his cronies—can help the poor best. McCain wants to channel more confiscated money to the global military he so loves. But since there is no money to confiscate, the political campaigns are a tragic joke.

I am buying none of it. We need to put power back in the hands of the people and greatly reduce the size of the greatly exploiting state. That is all. Is it too late? Are we headed toward multicultural civil wars and eventual splits into ethnostates? We hope we can return to the American Constitution.

Church, State and Specialization

The reason we are reevaluating the idea of the separation of church and state is that we think the Platonic and Gnostic virtual rejection of materialism in revealed religion—which we have called The Great Spiritual Blockade---is in error. We evolve materially to God Who we also see within in revealed religion, and we require and apply both the Inward and Outward Paths to Godhood in the Theoevolutionary Church.

We would more or less keep the separation of church and state. The revitalized church as an institution would remain a guide, including a sociobiological guide, to the state and the people in life, and in their advance to Godhood. Yet affirming the prudence of conservatism, and also being suspicious of the interference of the state, we would emphasize not so much the idea of separation of church and state as the idea of the separation of specialties. The statesmen or the military have different tasks than the priest. Yet a priest in an executive cabinet post as a secretary or minister of religion seems like a prudent addition to a secularized state, which need not take the priest out of his separate religious specialty.

E. O. Wilson's Darwinian Ethics

"..If we saw Wilson's biology of moral sentiments as part of the natural law tradition, we might see that much (if not all) of what Aquinas said about the natural inclinations supporting natural law would be confirmed by modern biological research. For example, we might conclude that the biological study of the social bonding between male and female and between parents and children provides a modern, scientific way of understanding what Aquinas identifies as the natural inclinations towards conjugal bonding and parental care. Aquinas's reasoning about marriage--that monogamy is completely natural, polygyny only partly natural, and polyandry completely unnatural--makes sense in the light of modern biological theories of human mating and parenting. Aquinas explained the natural inclinations by appealing to Aristotle's biological account of human nature compared to the natures of other animals. Wilson's biology of the moral sentiments continues in that same tradition of Aristotelian biological naturalism..."

Faith, Right and Law

Tension between the claims of order affirming evolution to God, and the freedom to evolve or not evolve, lean lightly on the side of order in evolving. Godhood's law, the laws of nature, intuition and faith say that we evolve to Godhood, the same Godhood that has been seen for ages from within the Soul. This is a natural right due to it being a natural law in harmony with the laws of nature, or Godhood's law. There is freedom but within a few naturally determined choices.

Economic Nationalism

American Federalism as defined in the American Constitution is as good as government can be; dividing power between national and state governments, safeguarding liberties, while securing national interest.

Economic Nationalism is constitutionally justified under the federalist principles of resisting external enemies (e.g. national defense), putting down domestic disorder, and securing commerce within the union (e.g. stopping outsourcing of jobs).

Economic Nationalism was the trade policy of Washington and Hamilton, Jefferson and Jackson. The American System consisted of high tariffs on foreign goods to support internal improvements. China and Japan, Europeans, Arabs and Russians, all economically protect their nations. We may also return to the establishment of a National Bank issuing credit from the government based on sound money, and not from private banks.

But when speaking of economic nationalism, we must not forget that our Constitution also said that Federalism gives the main part of internal affairs to state and local units. The national government has increased far beyond what the Constitution granted, however, we don't want to therefore go back to the Articles of Confederation giving the states sovereign power and the national government merely a diplomatic position.

Economic Nationalism would have prevented the present destruction of our economy, and we need to return to it.

The Theoevolutionary Church Combines East/South and West/North

Our Involutionary Inward Path can be compared to the East/South contemplative Brahmans, the Evolutionary Outward Path to the West/North active Kshatriyas. The West/North has tended to have more Kshatriyas but few Brahmans, as Rene Guenon, Julius Evola and others, have pointed out. These two social orders represent contemplation and action, traditionally, and their relationship in the East/West is as spiritual authority and temporal power. We balance these in the new religious order of the Theoevolutionary Church.

The East/South has much to teach the West/North about contemplation and the West/North has much to teach the East/South about action. Contemplation is no longer superior to action in the TC synthesis, since the Outward Path of Evolution to God is at least as important as the Inward Path of knowing God within.
