Is the universe orderly or disorderly?
Nietzsche thought that
eternal chaos and disorder define the universe, as Eliot Jurist
pointed out. That probably explains Nietzsche's will to power, which
has no real goal other than relativistic Dionysian power. I don't see
the universe that way.
I see life in the universe
as always activated to evolve toward Godhood, defined as the zenith
of success in the eternal drive for successful survival and
reproduction. Was it Bergson who said the universe was designed for
evolving Gods? That is not a universe of eternal chaos and disorder.
This may sound like an
anthropomorphic bias in defining the universe, but until humans
evolve much higher and get a fuller picture of the universe, we can
define the universe as life always trying to evolve toward the zenith
of success in survival and reproduction,
which is Godhood. That is an evolutionary universe of order with occasional chaos. If we can't realistically fight against the great dynamics of the universe we may as well try to harmonize with it---call it the tao of theological materialism.
