We have blocked realistic and humane ways of dealing with the genetic determinism of human nature
Human nature is
reducible to biology, which is at the origin of social behavior, and
that includes religion and philosophy. Too often we act as if we are
free from all material constraints. But it is a basic determinism
that leaves room for free choice within a genetically
determined human nature.
Human
nature, as empirically explained by sociobiology, remains genetically
kin-centered, gender defined, age-graded, heterosexual,
marriage-making, hierarchical, ethnocentric, even xenophobic, and
religious-making, among other things, with group-selection as the
primary unit of successful selection, followed by individual
selection.
This loose genetic determinism with its drive for
survival and reproductive success is often a zero sum game with
people and groups surviving at the expense off other groups, which is
not necessarily evil but is biological reality. If we admit this
reality then we can realistically deal with it.
This suggests that
if real human nature is allowed to be what it is, it will lead
naturally to regionalism, localism, ethnostates, and finally an
ethnopluralism of ethnostates. In the U. S. this could be
accomplished not by way of radical revolution but through
adapting---not overturning---the U.S. constitutional
separation of powers and states, and then protecting the ethnostates
from marauding
imperialists, supremacists, and money grubbers, with a
light federalism.
In
calling the biological reality of human nature “evil” or
“fallen” we have blocked realistic and humane ways of dealing
with the genetic determinism of human nature.
