The false duality running through human history
We can retain religion, we can have
Godhood, we can have ethics, embodiment, and transformation, but if
we want reality in these things we cannot have transcendence of the
material world. We "transcend" toward Godhood through
material evolution.
The painting by Raphael, "The
School of Athens,"of Plato pointing toward the heavens and
Aristotle pointing toward the earth illustrates the false duality
running through human history, although that wasn't Raphael's
meaning.
There is the supermaterial, there is
Godhood, but these divine things are evolved to in the material, not
spiritual world. This means that science and religion have been
falsely separated and need not be.
It is better to call spiritualism what
it is, and is not, than to try to synthesize materialism into
spiritualism by keeping it in a system of duality, as the great
intellectual fathers of the church tried to do,
But with the Twofold Path conservatives
and traditionalists need not reject the spiritual Inward Path of
desire-free ascetic living, which can be seen as the first human
inward glimpses of real Godhood now understood as reached in the
Outward Path of material evolution.
