Desire, Reason, And Love

The Classical world said that one can live by emotions, like the barbarians, or by reason, like the civilized world. St. Augustine pointed out the impossibility of emotion-free truth, calling it a mutilation of human nature and that we must turn emotion toward the service of justice and love.

Theological materialism and the Evolutionary Christian Church say that the desires and emotions are not uniformly evil, as strict Classicism and traditional inward religion might suggest, desire must be turned toward sacred evolution to God, which means reproduction directed toward higher consciousness, higher intelligence, greater beauty, until the Absolute of all things is reached, which is real Godhood.
